Parents and Godparents are required to attend a Baptism preparation session held the Thursday before Baptism date. Preparation for First Holy Communion and Confirmation requires two years. All classes are held at our parish. Grades 2 through 5 meet on Saturdays. Grades 6 through 8 meet every Wednesday. The public celebration of Mass has been suspended in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles effective March 17, 2020 until March 29, 2020, or as otherwise ex‐tended. The church will remain open from 9:30am‐ 6:00pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Church. Please observe “social distancing” otherwise we will be forced to close our Church. The weekday and Sunday Masses will be livestreamed from the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels via the LA Catholics Facebook page (facebook.com/lacatholics). Cuarto Domingo de Cuaresma: Juan 9:1-41 Jesús dijo: “Es necesario que yo haga las obras del que me envió, mientras es de día, porque luego llega la noche y ya nadie puede trabajar.” Piensa en eso por un segundo. No puedes trabajar de noche porque no puedes ver nada. La noche es simbólica y puede representar un momento en el que somos más vulnerables e in-defensos. Es en esta noche que necesitamos luz y esa luz es Jesucristo. No pode-mos funcionar sin Él y ahora es más evidente que nunca con esta pandemia del coronavirus. Esta pandemia ha demostrado cuán vulnerables somos sin Dios en nuestras vidas. Nos sentimos impotentes, frustrados y desesperados. No tenemos control y, por lo tanto, nos comportamos de una manera que demuestra que tenemos poca confian-za o fe en Dios y nuestra preocupación por nuestro prójimo es mínima. La desespe-ración ha llevado a muchos a compras de pánico y al acaparamiento de productos

críticos. El papel higiénico se ha convertido en mercancía sobrevaluada hasta el punto de que se ha convertido en algo difícil de encontrar. Intentamos comprar estos artículos que no son necesarios porque nos da una sensación de seguridad. Desafortunadamente, es una falsa sensación de seguridad. No durará. El miedo y el pánico volverán a entrar en nuestros corazones cuando escuchemos actualizaciones sobre los efectos de la pandemia. A pesar de todo esto, tengo buenas noticias para compartir. No tenemos que andar por la noche completamente ciegos. Tenemos una luz y esa luz es Jesús. Mis hermanos y hermanas, no dejen que las circunstancias en las que estamos viviendo los lleven a una vida de os-curidad, depresión, tristeza o miedo. En cambio, concentrasen en cómo pueden cambiar sus vidas para no estar ob-sesionados con las noticias negativas que escuchamos cada día. Solo la luz de Cristo puede conquistar esta obse-sión que se centra en el miedo. No tenemos que vivir con miedo. Invita a Jesús a tu corazón. Permítele que te dé la paz que buscas tan desesperadamente. Suaviza tu corazón y permite que Dios te cambie de acuerdo a Su voluntad y verás que la oscuridad de la noche no será rival para la luz de Cristo que brilla en tu corazón. Night is coming when no one can work.” Think about that for a second. You cannot work in the night because you cannot see a thing. The night is symbolic and it can represent a time where we are most vulnerable and helpless. It is in this night that we need light and that light is Jesus Christ. We cannot function without Him and it is more evident now than ever with this coronavirus pan-demic. This pandemic has shown how vulnerable we are without God in our lives. We feel helpless, frustrated and desper-ate. We have no control and therefore, we behave in a way that shows that we have little or no trust or faith in God and our concern for our neighbor is minimal. Desperation has led many to panic buying and hoarding of critical sup-plies. Toilet paper has become a commodity to the point that it has become a rarity. We attempt to purchase these items that are not a necessity because it gives us a sense of security. Unfortunately, it is a false sense of security. It will not last. Fear and panic will enter once again into our hearts when we hear continued updates on the effects of the pandemic. In spite of all this, I have good news to share. We don’t have to wander in the night completely blind. We have a light and that light is Jesus. My brothers and sisters, don’t let the circumstances that we are currently living in lead you into a life of darkness, de-pression, sadness or fear. Instead, focus on how you can change your life so that you are not obsessed with the neg-ative news that we hear each day. Only the light of Christ can conquer this obsession that focuses on fear. We don’t have to live afraid. Invite Jesus in to your heart. Allow Him to give you the peace that you so desperately seek. Sof-ten your heart and allow God to change you according to His will and you will see that the darkness of night will be no match to the light of Christ that shines brightly in your heart.
