The revolution in the provision of communicationtechnologies, services and applications is placingsevere pressure on service providers ability todeliver what customers value protably, and toestablish a viable long-term competitivebusiness position. Marketing telecommunicationsservices is no longer about selling technology.Communications service providers need todevelop a very deep, multi-dimensionalrelationship with their current and futurecustomers and understand how the revolutionin the wider communications environment is changing customers behaviour, valuerequirements and satisfaction drivers.Organisations that fail to place the customer at the very centre of all their activities will fail to achieve this kind of relationship and will lose ground.
This ve day, interactive programme is designedfor managers who need to develop a thoroughunderstanding of the customer and customer-centricity in the wider context of thecommunications industry. It provides the tools tohelp communications organisations and theirpartners to assess where, when and how tobecome more customer-centric and to usecustomer focus as the basis for improving overallorganisational efciency and effectiveness.

This course provides an in-depth appreciationof 3G (and specically UMTS) radio networkplanning issues. A comprehensive review ofthe WCDMA physical layer and channels isgiven, before Coverage, Capacity and Qualityplanning issues are explained in detail.Techniques used to enhance coverage andperformance are also explained. This courseis run in association with Imagicom.
W-CDMA Air Interface
This course primarily focuses on the conceptsof W-CDMA, together with the protocolarchitecture, techniques and physicalimplementation of the UMTS Air Interface. The functionality and operation of eachprotocol layer is explained with reference to itsimplementation in the relevant networkelements. Descriptions of the overall systemoperation illustrate how the protocols interactin order to provide services to the end user. The detailed procedures and operation ofHSPA is also discussed.

Mobile Video & TVTechnologies
Many mobile network operators have trialledand subsequently launched mobile video andtelevisions services with various degrees ofsuccess. As is often the case with new servicesand technologies, there are many competing orcomplimentary platforms and systems whichcan be used to deliver this content. This courseanalyses the market for mobile video andtelevision and provides an overview of thevarious technologies deployed.
Connected Television
This two day course covers the increasinglyimportant subject of delivering television andother content over IP-based networks, whether those networks are Telco-grade IPTVsystems or Over The Top (OTT), Internet-based connections. Commencing with amarket snapshot and an analysis of theoptions, the course proceeds to investigatethe formats and protocols used for TV andcontent delivery and also analysis theplatforms and playback technologies currentlydeployed. IP network architecture and aspectsof Quality of Service (QoS) are presented todemonstrate how Telcos can offer Televisionwithin multi-play packages for their customers. Finally the course considers the importanttopic of security and content protection, vital ifcontent owners are to trust distributionpartners and channels.
