Dear Parishioners,

As I am sure most of you have heard, last Saturday afternoon Fr Michael Allison was found dead, the apparent victim of a heart attack. Fr Allison had been pastor of The Church of the Beloved Disciple in Grove City these past eight years, and for a portion of that time he was President of the Kennedy Catholic School System. As a pastor he was always very popular with his parishioners, both here and in Erie.

I didn’t really know Mike very well until I arrived here at Notre Dame. In these last three years we’ve been to a great many deanery meetings together, have helped each other with Penance Services, and have spent a bit of time just talking about this or that. I must say that I will miss him very much. Conversing with Fr Allison was always entertaining, as he was easily able to describe his frus-trations with a great deal of humor. Even when he was upset or disappointed, his love for the Faith, the Church and the people he served was wonderfully evident. He will always be a good example to me of somebody who could recognize life’s imperfections but still have a strong desire to serve and serve well.

I would ask you to remember in your prayers Fr Allison, his family, and all the people he served over the years, especially those at The Church of the Beloved Disciple.
