14 November 2019 Newsletter No.31
Dear Parents,
Soccer Tournament
Congratulations to the Year 4 children who took part in the soccer tournament last week. By all accounts, you displayed fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork.
Our boys came equal first, but then came second due to goals, while our girls came fourth. Holy Name is very proud of your achievements and behaviour.
Choir
Our congratulations are also extended to our choir, who performed yesterday at Kmart, Summerhill Shopping Centre. The children sang a variety of Christmas Carols which
were enjoyed by all, and marks the beginning of the Kmart/Salvation Army Wishing
Tree Appeal. Unfortunately, I missed the performance, but saw the video and pictures. A big thank you goes out to Ms Zannoni, Mrs Bakas and Ms Mastroianni for their hard
work with the choir this year. (See the report and photos on page 3)
Dispositions Our Learning Dispositions are very important in teaching the
children that in order to be an effective learner, we must develop core dispositions. Throughout the year, these dispositions have
been explicitly taught and named, and staff will continue to do so throughout your child’s time here at Holy Name. It is with
great pleasure that I introduce our Disposition Characters. These characters are based upon those developed by Mariella and Irene
in Year 4.
Reminder
Just a reminder to our parents and grandparents, that the children’s toilets are out of bounds for all adults. If you need to use the toilet, please use the staff toilets, which
are located near the staffroom.
Students not Returning in 2020
If you know your child is not returning to Holy Name school next year, and you haven’t yet informed us, please email me as soon as possible.
Caroline Galea
Principal

OUR BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
OPERATES IN THE SCHOOL’S ILC
What we’ve been up to this last week………
As part of National Recycling Week, the children have made some very colourful posters
about saving our environment and protecting our animals. Well done to Makayla, Abbey, Angela and Ally for their posters. We also had some children making a
Christmas tree from old magazines and newspapers. It is exciting to see children gaining some knowledge about the benefits of reusing and recycling products in order
to protect our planet. Kathy and I have also had some discussion about the benefits of compost, what the differences are between a general bin, recycling bin and a
compost bin. Different bins use different ways to recycle rubbish, such as reusing and reducing plastic bottles and plastic bags, in order to protect our oceans and animals.
Parents….if you would like your child to attend for a trial, the first session is
free. Come up and meet us and have a look at our program!
Reminder
To enrol your child/ren in our program, or to view fees, go to www.campaustralia.com.au and search for our school OR ring 1300 105 343.
If you need to contact me, the OSHC mobile number is 0418 576 410. I am happy to assist you with information about our before and after school program.
