Dear Parents,

Soccer Tournament

Congratulations to the Year 4 children who took part in the soccer tournament last week. By all accounts, you displayed fantastic sportsmanship and teamwork.

Our boys came equal first, but then came second due to goals, while our girls came fourth. Holy Name is very proud of your achievements and behaviour.

Choir

Our congratulations are also extended to our choir, who performed yesterday at Kmart, Summerhill Shopping Centre. The children sang a variety of Christmas Carols which

were enjoyed by all, and marks the beginning of the Kmart/Salvation Army Wishing

Tree Appeal. Unfortunately, I missed the performance, but saw the video and pictures. A big thank you goes out to Ms Zannoni, Mrs Bakas and Ms Mastroianni for their hard

work with the choir this year. (See the report and photos on page 3)

Yesterday, 26 members of the choir were lucky enough to be part of the opening of the Wishing Tree at Kmart Summerhill. The choir sang three songs- ‘Santa Where’s Your

Shorts’, ‘Jingle Bells’, and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’. We had so much fun and enjoyed our very public professional gig!

MATHS OLYMPIAD

This year, we had 18 students participate in the Maths Olympiad between Grade 4-6. It has been a huge effort of dedication and commitment from these students, to

challenge and extend their Mathematical thinking.

This year, we had two students, Lucas S Grade 5C and Oscar T 6Z who

achieved results in the top 20%, and two students, Imogen Y 6Z and Chris

D 6Z who achieved results in the top 2%.

Congratulations to Katherine L 5C who received the 2019 Mathematical

Olympiad Special Achievement Award for Outstanding Effort and Improvement in Mathematical Problem Solving, and Imogen Y 6Z on

achieving a perfect score of 25/25, which was obtained by only 157

students from the 36,631 students who completed the Olympiad. This

placed her in the top 0.43% of all participants.

All these students will receive their awards at next Monday's assembly.

OUR BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

OPERATES IN THE SCHOOL’S ILC

What we’ve been up to this last week………

As part of National Recycling Week, the children have made some very colourful posters

about saving our environment and protecting our animals. Well done to Makayla, Abbey, Angela and Ally for their posters. We also had some children making a

Christmas tree from old magazines and newspapers. It is exciting to see children gaining some knowledge about the benefits of reusing and recycling products in order

to protect our planet. Kathy and I have also had some discussion about the benefits of compost, what the differences are between a general bin, recycling bin and a

compost bin. Different bins use different ways to recycle rubbish, such as reusing and reducing plastic bottles and plastic bags, in order to protect our oceans and animals.

Parents….if you would like your child to attend for a trial, the first session is

free. Come up and meet us and have a look at our program!

Reminder

To enrol your child/ren in our program, or to view fees, go to www.campaustralia.com.au and search for our school OR ring 1300 105 343.

If you need to contact me, the OSHC mobile number is 0418 576 410. I am happy to assist you with information about our before and after school program.
