14 Jun 2019 Secondary News A word from Mrs Eckman This week the students have been finalising their performances for the end of the year concert, which will be taking place next Wednesday, June 19 th at 16:30 in Vrhnika’s ‘Cankarjev dom’. It will be lovely to see all the students from Year 7 to 10 perform as well as IGCSE and A Level Music students supporting some of the acts on the programme. This last week, Year 7 and 8 students have had ample opportunities to enjoy themselves at the Slovene Coast and develop their water sports skills, particularly in regards to sailing. Ms Sparks, Ms Žepič, Mr Kisovec, Mr Austin and Mr Damjan have made sure they found essential spots of shade as the temperatures have recently increased significantly. In the upcoming week, another very special event will be hosted, this time at the beautiful Hotel Vander in Stara Ljubljana. I am referring to the 2019 Graduation Ceremony. The students have raised the funds and organised this important and memorable evening on their own, demonstrating their dynamic leadership and collaboration skills. We look forward to congratulating them and wishing them success in their future educational and life experiences. Also, a reminder that the students from Year 7 to 10 will receive Term 3 Reports on Monday, June 17 th , at the end of the school day. Year 11,12 and 13 external exams

This week saw the final week of the external examinations for the May/June 2019 series. So a final thank you to all the students who have quietly observed the signs that examinations were taking place and thank you to all of the staff who have helped facilitate these important exams. I'm sure that the whole school community would like to wish the year 11, 12, 13 and indeed some year 10 students all the best as they prepare to receive their results from August 13th.

Mr Batson, exams officer.

Music

BIMS Concerts

The BIMS concert season continues on Saturday, the 15th June and third on Sunday, 16th June.

Please come along and support your students. Refreshments will be provided.

Music Wall

The music wall will stay the same for one more week, so you still have a chance to guess! Here's a hint: this well-known piece is by a very famous composer whose name starts with "M." If you guess the title Mrs. Reindl has a small gift for you.

Mrs Reindl, music department.

Mathematics

With Y7 we have been working on a project where students have learned ratio, revised conversions between units, predicting costs, are developing communication and organisational skills, by working within a group. Next Monday we go shopping together and on Tuesday students will make a meal.

Mrs Dečman-Zgonik, Maths department

BISL’S STILL GOT TALENT SHOW

With just a few days left before the whole-school show, students have been very busy preparing! Primary students' parents have received email about costumes, so please have a look. Secondary students have discussed costume plans with the teachers mentoring their acts, so they also know what to bring. All costumes and props can be brought to school on Wednesday morning. Please remember to drop students off right on time because the first buses are leaving at 8:00 am sharp!

Rehearsals for Secondary students for the spectacular opening number.
