n the early hours of the 8th, a swift move by police led to the bust of three suspects aged between 36 and 40, for breaking into one of the banks in Lydenburg.I

The police were responding to a complaint of an alarm that went off at a bank in Lydenburg. The suspects were caught red-handed breaking into the bank. Three of the six suspects were nabbed and three who were waiting outside in two getaway vehicles, a Toyota and a TATA bakkie, managed to escape. During the arrest, police seized various equipment used by the suspects to

commit the crime; a grinder, drilling machine, a generator and a 9mm pistol. The police later recovered the TATA bakkie, which was left abandoned at Kelleysville. The suspects appeared before the Lydenburg Magistrate's Court on Monday, 11 February.Police urge any person who can assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects to contact Captain Manie Van Zyl on 082 782 3102.

As n blyk van waardering, ontvang skenkers wat 4 eenhede in n kalenderjaar skenk, n spesiale geskenk. Ons het ietwat herstel van die moeilike vakansie-seisoen in terme van ons bloedvoorrade, maar weet dat hierdie situasie enige dag kan verander as ons nie ons daaglikse insamelingsdoelwit van 3 000 eenhede bereik nie, s Vanessa Raju, Kommunikasiebestuurder by die SANBS.Alle bloedgroepe is baie belangrik, terwyl n tekort aan Groep O-bloed dikwels ondervind word. As jy aan die A- en AB-bloedgroep behoort, oorweeg dit asseblief om n plaatjieskenker te word.

Plaatjies speel n lewensbelangrike rol in bloedstolling en om bloedverlies te verhoed. Plaatjieskenking is n eenvoudige proses wat ongeveer 2 ure neem om te voltooi. Die bloed word deur n sel-skeier gestuur, waartydens die plaatjies a g t e r g e h o u w o r d e n d i e a n d e r bloedkomponente aan die skenker teruggegee word. Hierdie prosedure stel skenkers in staat om elke maand te skenk. were completed last year by Verster Timber Havens. A small function was held on Thursday, 31 January 2013 at Wenakker to show appreciation to all the donors and companies involved in the project. Mr Chris Jankowitz, Director of Wenakker, expressed his great gratitude towards Samancor Eastern Chrome Mines for their generous donation. The General Manager of ECM, Mr Emile Britz congratulated Wenakker on the wonderful work they accomplish in the community.This project created a w a r e n e s s a n d attracted the attention of the community for the excellent work by Wenakker for the disabled. AfriForum requested the Green Scorpions to investigate the Thaba Chweu Municipality's water management system. This follows complaints about raw sewage running through the old cemetery and into the Dorps River.AfriForum has in the past written several letters to the Municipality on various sewage spills. In each case, the Municipality only responded after continued pressure from AfriForum. This is not how a municipality should be managed. This type of pollution, where the health of a community is threatened, is a criminal offence. The community has had enough," said Leon de Jager, Chairperson of the AfriForum Lydenburg branch.The Thaba Chweu Municipality has a record of sewage pollution, which also occurred in their drinking water. This continued negligence and consequent pollution of our natural resources is totally unacceptable and criminal. We trust that the Green Scorpions will enforce legislation to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment," said De Jager.The current spil lage causes environmental and water pollution in a heritage area. Several laws are being contravened and action must be taken against the responsible authority immediately. The extent of the pollution is such that is has become a great threat to human health as well as the river ecosystem and other natural resources," added De Jager.The Green Scorp ions were established as the Environmental Inspectorate for the Department of Environmental Affairs. They are the guardians of our natural resources in South Africa.

Misdadigers moet die oomblik dat hy in die handeling van n misdaad pleeg ingaan, of

Die Rooikatte het Saterdagaand 9 Februarie 2013 vir die inwoners van Lelievlei 'n dans by Rooikat Park aangebied. Die inwoners het dit baie geniet en gesellig saam verkeer. Frik Rousseau, Direkteur van Lelievlei, s dat die inwoners van Lelievlei almal hierdie jaar Rooikat Park gaan besoek om die Rooikatte te ondersteun. Daar gaan geskreeu en gesing word soos nog nooit tevore nie. Die VF+ het reeds besluit om die toegangsgelde, braaivleis en koeldrank gratis te verskaf.

Rooikatte borg dans vir Lelievlei

Lydenburg help om liefde te laat groeiBeverley Ludick van Pretoria skryf: Wag laat ek myself eers voorstel, my naam is Beverley Ludick van Gauteng en ek het pas 'n nuwe krel ontmoet. Ons ken mekaar nou so ampertjies vier weke en het hy besluit hy wil my wegneem vir die naweek Mpumalanga toe, jy weet sodat ons mekaar nou kan leer ken. Julle weet mos nou die dril met 'n nuwe dametjie aan jou sy, als moet mos nou reg loop en moet daar gespog word oor sy bestuursvernuf met sy duur motor (Lexus) ens. Ons was oppad vanaf Dullstroom na Lydenburg en die Lexus het soos 'n droom gery op die eerste gedeelte van die prag pad. Ek het my naweek al goed beplan in my hartjie met die aantreklike man langs my, waar ons oral heen sal gaan die Saterdagoggend en waar ons gaan inboek vir Saterdagaand ens. Ek was nog so ingedagte met al my verliefdgeid toe ek die volgende oomblik net doef, wrrr tik tak tik hoor en ja daar slaan ons toe nou sommer twee lieflike potholes met die duur motor en albei linkerkantse bande is daarmee heen, 4km voor Lydenburg.Dit was omtrent 19:30 die aand... n pragtige aand daarby moet ek s en besluit ons toe nou maar om so teen 6km per uur die laaste stukkie pad aan te durf met die twee verskeurde pap bande. Aangesien ek glo beide van ons verlief is het nie een van ons eens ongelukkig geraak oor die situasie nie en het ons maar net gegiggel oor die dilemma waarin ons ons self nou gekry het.Ons het tot by Klitsgras Chalets kon ry en het Ferdie ons met ope arms ontvang en ons gou laat tuis voel. Hy het selfs aangebied om ons na die naaste bande plek te neem die volgende oggend.... wat toe nou nie nodig was nie!Daar sit ons toe nou in ons selfcatering chalet met 'n sak biltong, n paar bottels water vir aandete. Kwaliteit tyd spandeer met mekaar soos verliefdes nou maar maak.....op die walletjie by Ferdie se eendedammetjie gaan l en die wonderlike aand se sterre aanskou en lekker gesels!Die volgende oggend is ek op die foon en skakel die naaste bandeplek in Lydenburg. Ongelukkig het die verkoopsman ons nie kon help nie omdat die Lexus se bande baie skaars is in die kontrei en is daar aan ons ges: Ek weet nie mevrou!Goed, toe bel ek HI-Q in Nelspruit omdat dit die grootse naaste dorp was en hoop toe nou ons kan dalk bande laat koerier indien hulle het. Gary het die telefoon geantwoord en vinnig verduidelik dat hy gou sy kontakte sal bel en my sal laat weet. Binne enkele oomblike het Gary van Hi-Q Nelspruit ons terug geskakel en verduidelik dat hy die bande het en dat Bertie van HI-Q ons sal terug skakel. Enkele minute het verbygegaan en het hy ons geskakel. Dag

mevrou, dis Hi-Q Lydenburg, ek stuur dadelik vir Salkie daar na Klitsgras Chalets om solank u bande te kom afhaal. Ek kry vir Nelspruit se mense halfpad sodat ons die bande vir u hier in Lydenburg kan kry.Salkie het binne oomblike daar by ons opgedaag en ons bande kom afhaal op die motor. Vriendelik knaap. Intussen het ons Ferdie se eendedammetjies aanskou en na die naaste vulstasie gestap om koffie en jaffels te gaan koop. Voor ons behoorlik ons jaffels kon afsluk toe is die manne al oppad terug met ons nuwe bande. Met 'n vinnige drafstappie vanaf die vulstasie hand-aan- hand, en ek wat net hartjies sien, is ons terug by die chalets en het Hi-Q ons spinternuwe bande kom terugsit en aan ons verduidelik dat ons nou net die wielsporing moet kom doen by Hi-Q se tak self in Lydenburg.Met ons splinternuwe bande is ons agter hulle aan Hi-Q toe en het hulle ons vinnig gehelp met die wielsporing en siedaar... ons is uitgesorteer. Aangesien Hi-Q Lydenburg en Nelspruit ons so mooi en vinnig gehelp het kon my aantreklike krel my Sabie toe neem vir 'n romantiese middagete, en kon ons twee lekker giggel oor die penarie waarin ons, onsself gekry het en ook oor die wonderlike onvoorwaardelike diens wat ons ontvang het vanaf Hi-Q! Baie Baie Dankie aan julle hele span daar by HI-Q!Die potholes is verseker n probleem daar by julle in Lydenburg, dit het hom (my kerel) 'n lelike klompie geld uit die sak gejaag. Maar terselfde tyd het ek ons die tydtjie sonder ons luukse wiele voorwaardelik waardeer en kon ons mekaar nou goed leer ken.Dankie dat die plaaslike munisipaliteit nie die gate regmaak daar op die Lydenburg pad nie... anders sou ek nooit my nuwe krel so goed leer ken het nie. Dink nou net as die pad seepglad was......ons sou gejaag het van dorpie na dorpie en nooit hand -aan-hand na die naaste vulstasie gestap het vir 'n koffie en jaffel nie.Baie dankie en vriendelike groete daar aan al Lydenburg se vriendelike mense.

AS the Ford Ranger's popularity continues to grow additional derivatives have been added to the line-up to meet with strong customer demand.In 2013 the popular Wildtrak derivative will now be offered in 4x2 and 4x4 automatic guise having previously only been available in 4x2 manual guise. The range topping Wildtrak derivative is powered by Ford's 3.2-litre Duratorq TDCi five-cylinder diesel engine with a substantial 470 Nm of torque and power rated at 147 kW. The Wildtrak is fitted with extensive safety features that have seen the Ranger (XLT and Wildtrak derivatives) becoming the first ever pick-up to achieve a maximum 5 Star rating under the Euro NCAP crash test protocol. The Wildtrak is also comprehensively equipped with features normally associated with premium passenger vehicles. Among them Bluetooth with voice control, steering wheel mounted radio controls, dual zone climate control, rainsensing wipers, power windows front and rear, heated seats and more. Other changes to the Ranger line-up in 2013 include the addition of Bluetooth with voice activation, including steering wheel audio controls and a USB port to the Single, Super and Double Cab XLS derivatives, while all XLT models can now be fitted with Park Distance Sensors and a Reverse Camera as an optional extra. The Park Distance Sensor is fitted to the rear bumper with a Reverse Camera that appears in the review mirror when the vehicle is placed in reverse. Single Cab Base customers will now have the opportunity to fit airconditioning as an optional extra, while a Safety Pack will also be available as an option. The Safety Pack includes ABS brakes with EBD, beltminder and driver and passenger airbags. The South African Post Office prints more than 380 million postage stamps a year. These stamps reach the four corners of the earth. The public is requested to submit proposals to the South African Post Office on topics to be covered in the 2013 stamp calendar. Topics that have been included in the past included South African Marine life, Chinese astrology, migratory species and the South African World Heritage sites. Other suggestions included the natural wonders of South Africa and music in South Africa. Opkomende sportsterblink uit in provinsialekrieket en gholf

Tiaan Brits in sy Mpumalanga klere vir die Mpumalangaspan (links) en in aksie op die krieketveld (regs).

ir Tiaan Brits is sport sy groot liefde. Hy is veral mal oor balsporte soos tennis, gholf en V

krieket, alhoewel hy ook nog 'n kranige rugbyspeler is.Die afgelope Desembervakansie het hy aan beide interprovinsiale krieket- en gholftoernooie deelgeneem. In gholf het hy Laeveld-span verwerf en is daarna verkies vir die Mpumalanga span.Die span het vanaf 6-7 Desember 2012 in Klerksdorp en Orkney deelgeneem. Ses provinsiale spanne het deelgeneem met 12 spelers in elke span. Die Mpumalanga span eindig vierde en Tiaan (11 jaar) eindig 22ste uit 72 spelers,

waarvan die meeste spelers reeds 13 jaar oud is en in graad 7. Voorwaar 'n uitstekende prestasievir so jong man.In krieket verwerf hy o/11 Ehlanzeni-streekspan en na strawwe proewe verwerf hy Mpumalanga span. Die 2 spanne van Mpumalanga het vanaf 9-12 Desember 2012 in Secunda meegeding teen spanne soos Northerns, Easterns, Noord-Wes, Limpopo en Griekwaland-Wes. Sy span wen 3 uit 4 wedstryde. Tiaan was die span se openings-bouler en het op posisie 3 gekolf. Sy lopie-gemiddeld was 35, met 'n hoogste telling van 62. Hou hierdie seun maar dop, ons gaan nog baie van hom hoor in die toekoms!

Ben Vorster played host to High School Lydenburg, Capricorn High and Pietersburg High School. The competition was tough as all athletes of the

respective schools had a last opportunity to prepare for their Inter Highs. Mareli Hiemstra received the Senior Victrix Laudorum and various athletes managed a

personal best for the season thus far: Innocentia Shabangu (4,5m in Long Jump), Natasha Holiday (3,5m in Triple Jump), Thabiso Maphanga (1,8m in

High Jump) and Advice Masilela (2:09.02 in 800m) but to name a few. Congratulations on your achievements and all the very best for the Inter High on
