Diffuse lighto Diffuse light has a positive effect on the crop. (Source WUR '13)

o Smooth, uniform light without harsh shadows

What does diffuse glass do?o Scatter light deeper into the crop, deeper penetration of light

o Improve horizontal and vertical light distribution

o Better light absorption of the lower leaf layers à increases the photosynthetic

capacity of the whole plant

o The crop undergoes less stress, due to more uniform greenhouse climate,

lower crop temperature in the upper leaf layers and a higher temperature in

the lower leaf layers.

o Enable to absorb more CO2 and to process it into assimilates for growth,

production and quality.

What does diffuse glass do?o By making the light more diffuse, you can add more light, and allow the

acceleration of cultivation

o The crop is more generative and fruits develop faster (shorter growth of the fruit)

o Less Botrytis and mildew

o Less photo-inhibition due to less (direct) light

o Moderate climate in the greenhouse

o Illuminated cultivitation also benefits from difusse glass
