Updated: 06/11/2020

I would like to take this time to thank Ann Jurecka for her memorial gift in honor of her late husband, Morris William Jurecka. Her generosity helps to make my wish come true. I always like to have a statue of St. Joseph next to the Blessed Virgin Mary in the church in order for parishioners to pray to the Holy Family. I ordered the statue from Italy and anticipated it would come this month before I move to my next assignment. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic closed the studio in Italy down for several weeks. I just received an update for the art work. It is progressing, but will not arrive as scheduled. The statue costs, includ-ing shipping, is $15,346.00. Deacon Matt Rust has agreed to donate the pedestal for the statue which matches the one for the Blessed Virgin Mary. Next Tuesday, June 30th will be my last day at St. Maximilian Kolbe. After the morning Mass I will hand over the keys and the parish to Fr. Lawrence Jozwiak. I want to thank all of you; the staff, pastoral and finance councils and all the ministers and parishioners for your prayers and support in many different ways for the last six years. It has been a joy and special blessing to serve and work with you here at St. Maximilian Kolbe. You are always in my heart because you have been a significant part of my priestly ministry. Whenever you head down to Galveston, please stop by to visit me at my new parish:

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the Earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the clean of heart, for they will see God. Power Hour Prayer Time Need a spiritual boost? Join us at 7pm on Monday nights in the St. Maximilian Kolbe Immaculata Chapel. One hour of prayer includes the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, conse-crations and litanies to Jesus and Mary along with medita-tion music and hands on healing prayer. Inspired by a mes-sage given by Our Blessed Mother to a Medjugorje vision-ary to “form and make prayer groups through which we will pray for your healing and the healing of this nation to come closer to God and to me”. A special hour of adoring Jesus will bring peace and healing as promised by Our Lady. Call Jeanette Coury at 281-914-3676 for more information.

MASS [ONLINE]

An Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

FATHERHOOD When a father gives to his son, both laugh; when a son gives to his father, both cry. William Shakespeare

One of our parishioners, Juliana Oyen. is a sophomore at the University of Hou-ston. Juliana recently organized a Food Donation Drive and the Food Pantry at St. Maximilian Kolbe benefitted. Juli-ana's attitude is one of service, and when people are not working, children are hungry, and people are feeling anx-ious from the news, a helping hand is always appreciated. Juliana has coordi-nated a book drive in the past also. St. Maximilian’s Food Pantry and our church community appreciates Juliana doing something positive for the community during this unusual time.

Thank you Juliana!

Many thanks to all who walked, ran or donated to the fundraiser for Houston Coalition’s Walk for Life. Donations are still being accepted online through July 11th. That we have the strength and courage to be joy-ful witnesses of our Catholic faith in all circum-stances. “Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.” Matthew 10:32 Would others know that you are Catholic by the way you act and speak? Do you share your Cath-olic faith with others? Do you defend your Catho-lic faith when the situation arises or do you remain silent? Do you pray in public before meals? Pray for the strength and courage to be a joyful witness of our Catholic faith when the opportunity presents itself. Let us become the radiant light and bold witness that we are called to be!
