WINTER SPORT

Last Friday, Grade 6 travelled to Korumburra to play winter sport against Korumburra PS. Students had a range of sports to choose from- basketball, volleyball, netball, soccer, T-Ball and football. We had mixed results. Some teams won and some teams lost but it didn’t matter. Everyone had heaps of fun. Some of the highlights included Mitchell being an awesome goalie in soccer and Naomi hitting a home run in T-Ball. Mia played amazing defence in basketball and did not give up. Grant got lots of rebounds in basketball and Jacob shot some goals. Rhys played well in football and Mia D was a really accurate goal shooter in netball. Everyone showed great sportsmanship. It was a brilliant afternoon. This week, Inverloch PS is visiting us to play the next round of winter sports. We can’t wait. Jacob Stewart and Grant Munn

DRAGON CLUB

A lucky few, very enthusiastic, grade 3s have been recruited to the Lóng (dragon) Club, a not-very-secret society that is being run by the talented and dedicated grade 6 Languages Captains. In the first two sessions, held on Thursday lunchtimes, we made firecrackers (biān pào) and practised Chinese characters on magic mats.

Parents – why should your daughter try Girl Guides?

Recently your daughter had a presentation on Girl Guides so that she now knows what fun

Guides can be, but Girl Guides is so much more.

Do you want your daughter to develop her leadership skills, learn to serve the

community, challenge herself in the outdoors, develop her ethics, make new friends and

develop self-confidence, as well as having fun? These are all fundamentals of the Girl

Guide program.

One of the great things about Guides is it is for girls only We can do what girls want to

do and how they want to do it.

Your daughter can come and try Girl Guides at Leongatha for two free weeks to find out more about

our program

Leongatha Lyrebird Guides, for girls in grades 1 to 4,

Wednesday night from 5.00pm to 6.30pm at the Guide hall, A’Becket St,

Leongatha.

Leongatha Lizards Guides, for girls in grade 5 and above,

Wednesday night from 7pm to 8,30pm, at the Guide hall. This

unit is currently in recess, but come along to Lyrebirds to

see what Guiding is like.
