1st headline: “God Judges Rome” -

Rev. 14:14-16:21

Rev 14:6-7 WEB I saw an angel flying in mid heaven, having an eternal Good News to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth, and to every nation, tribe, language, and people. (7) He said with a loud voice, "Fear the Lord, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!"

Lesson 12 2

2nd headline: “Babylon the Great

Falls” - Rev. 17-18

Rev 14:8 WEB Another, a

second angel, followed,

saying, "Babylon the great

has fallen, which has

made all the nations to

drink of the wine of the

wrath of her sexual

immorality."

3rd headline: “Emperor Worshipers

Judged; Saints, Be Faithful” - Rev. 19-20

Rev 14:9-12 WEB Another angel, a third, followed them, saying with a great voice, "If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead, or on his hand, (10) he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is prepared unmixed in the cup of his anger. He will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb. (11) The smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever. They have no rest day and night, those who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. (12) Here is the patience of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus."

4th headline: “Congratulations, Dead

Saints” - Rev. 21-22

Rev 14:13 WEB I heard the voice from heaven saying,

"Write, 'Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from

now on.' " "Yes," says the Spirit, "that they may rest from

their labors; for their works follow with them."

Lesson 12 3

“The Hour of His Judgment Has

Come” 14:14-16:21

The harvest of the earth in two figures:

Harvest of wheat is judgment from the perspective

of the righteous

Harvest of grapes is judgment from the

perspective of the wicked

Harvest of wheat – Judgment from

the perspective of the righteous

Rev 14:14-16 WEB I looked, and behold, a white cloud; and on

the cloud one sitting like a son of man, having on his head a

golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. (15) Another

angel came out from the temple, crying with a loud voice to him

who sat on the cloud, "Send forth your sickle, and reap; for the

hour to reap has come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe!" (16)

He who sat on the cloud thrust his sickle on the earth, and the

earth was reaped.

Wheat is a symbol of the righteous

Mat 3:12 WEB His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire."

Mat 13:30 WEB Let both grow together until the harvest, and in the harvest time I will tell the reapers, "First, gather up the darnel weeds, and bind them in bundles to burn them; but gather the wheat into my barn."

To the Christian, judgment is like being gathered into the barn to be prepared for use.

Lesson 12 4

Harvest of grapes - Judgment from

the perspective of the wicked

Rev 14:17-20 WEB Another angel came out from the temple which is in heaven. He also had a sharp sickle. (18) Another angel came out from the altar, he who has power over fire, and he called with a great voice to him who had the sharp sickle, saying, "Send forth your sharp sickle, and gather the clusters of the vine of the earth, for the earth's grapes are fully ripe!" (19) The angel thrust his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vintage of the earth, and threw it into the great winepress of the wrath of God. (20) The winepress was trodden outside of the city, and blood came out from the winepress, even to the bridles of the horses, as far as one thousand six hundred stadia.

The picture comes from Isa 63:1-6

Who is this who comes from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this who is glorious in his clothing, marching in the greatness of his strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save." (2) Why are you red in your clothing, and your garments like him who treads in the wine vat? (3) "I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the peoples there was no man with me: yes, I trod them in my anger, and trampled them in my wrath; and their lifeblood is sprinkled on my garments, and Ihave stained all my clothing. (4) For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come. (5) I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore my own arm brought salvation to me; and my wrath, it upheld me. (6) I trod down the peoples in my anger, and made them drunk in my wrath, and I poured out their lifeblood on the earth."

Blood flows 200 miles, as deep as a horse’s bridle (Not literal)

Seven Angels with Seven Plagues –

Rev 15:1-8

Page 5: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

The Book of Revelation 5/20/2007

Lesson 12 5

Rev 15:1-8 WEB

I saw another great and marvelous sign in the sky: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them God's wrath is finished. (2) I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. (3) They sang the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, "Great and marvelous are your works, Lord God, the Almighty! Righteous and true are your ways, you King of the nations. (4) Who wouldn't fear you, Lord, and glorify your name? For you only are holy. For all the nations will come and worship before you. For your righteous acts have been revealed." (5) After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened. (6) The seven angels who had the seven plagues came out, clothed with pure, bright linen, and wearing golden sashes around their breasts. (7) One of the four living creatures gave to the seven angels seven golden bowls full of the wrath of God, who lives forever and ever. (8) The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple, until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.

When trumpets were blown (8-11)

mercy was mixed with judgment

Only 1/3 was affected. The purpose was to produce repentance

Rev 9:20-21 WEB The rest of mankind, who were not killed with these plagues, didn't repent of the works of their hands, that they wouldn't worship demons, and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of brass, and of stone, and of wood; which can neither see, nor hear, nor walk. (21)They didn't repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.

Now, no mercy – Rome will see that

“Our God is a consuming fire”

Deu 4:23-24 WEB Take heed to yourselves, lest you forget the covenant of Yahweh your God, which he made with you, and make you an engraved image in the form of anything which Yahweh your God has forbidden you. (24) For Yahweh your God is a devouring fire, a jealous God.

Heb 12:28-29 WEB Therefore, receiving a Kingdom that can't be shaken, let us have grace, through which we serve God acceptably, with reverence and awe, (29) for our God is a consuming fire.

Lesson 12 6

Saints standing beside the seaRev 15:2-4 WEB I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, and those who overcame the beast, his image, and the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. For your righteous acts have been revealed."

This is the sea that separated God

from his people earlier

Rev 4:6 WEB Before the

throne was something like a

sea of glass, similar to

crystal. In the midst of the

throne, and around the

throne were four living

creatures full of eyes before

and behind.

Now, the saints are getting

ready to cross over

Later, there will be no more sea –

man is, at last, in fellowship with God

Rev 21:1 WEB I saw a

new heaven and a new

earth: for the first

heaven and the first

earth have passed

away, and the sea is no

more.

Page 7: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

Lesson 12 7

The saints are praising God &

singing songs of deliverance

Once again, we see the Exodus motif – God’s people on the way out of bondage (crossing Red Sea) & into Promised Land (crossing Jordan).

Song of Moses is sung beside the Red Sea – hence Deliverance!

Exo 15:1 WEB Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said, "I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

Impending judgments

Rev 15:5-8 WEB After these things I looked, and the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

Judgments come from the temple & are delivered by 7 angels – they are God’s judgments

Temple filled with smoke – No more

intercessionRev 15:8 WEB The temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power. No one was able to enter into the temple, until the seven plagues of the seven angels would be finished.

Exo 40:34-35 WEB Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of Yahweh filled the tabernacle. (35) Moses wasn't able to enter into the Tent of Meeting, because the cloud stayed on it, and Yahweh's glory filled the tabernacle.

1Ki 8:10-11 WEB It came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of Yahweh, (11) so that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud; for the glory of Yahweh filled the house of Yahweh.

Judgment is now irrevocable

Lesson 12 8

7 Bowls of God’s Wrath (16:1-21)

Rev 16:1-21 WEB

I heard a loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!" (2) The first went, and poured out his bowl into the earth, and it became a harmful and evil sore on the people who had the mark of the beast, and who worshiped his image. (3) The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man. Every living thing in the sea died. (4) The third poured out his bowl into the rivers and springs of water, and they became blood. (5) I heard the angel of the waters saying, "You are righteous, who are and who were, you Holy One, because you have judged these things. (6)For they poured out the blood of the saints and the prophets, and you have given them blood to drink. They deserve this." (7)I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true andrighteous are your judgments." (8) The fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given to him to scorch men with fire.

Rev 16:1-21 WEB

(9) People were scorched with great heat, and people blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues. They didn't repent and give him glory. (10) The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was darkened. They gnawed their tongues because of the pain, (11) and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. They didn't repent of their works. (12)The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates. Its water was dried up, that the way might be made ready for thekings that come from the sunrise. (13) I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs; (14) for they are spirits of demons, performing signs; which go forth to the kings of the whole inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of that great day of God, the Almighty.

Lesson 12 9

Rev 16:1-21 WEB

(15) "Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn't walk naked, and they see his shame." (16) He gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew, Megiddo. (17) The seventh poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came forth out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is done!" (18)There were lightnings, sounds, and thunders; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were men on the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty. (19) The great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. (20)Every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. (21)Great hailstones, about the weight of a talent, came down out ofthe sky on people. People blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail, for this plague is exceedingly severe.

A closer look at the text

Voice from the temple must be God’s voice, because of smoke no one else is there. Rev 16:1 WEB I heard a

loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!"

The 7 are broken into 4 + 2 + interlude + 1

First 4 – judgment on Rome’s world:

land, sea, fresh water, universe

Page 10: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

The Book of Revelation 5/20/2007

Lesson 12 10

Rev 16:1-8 WEBI heard a loud voice out of the temple, saying to the seven angels, "Go and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God on the earth!" (2) The first went, and poured out his bowl into the earth, and it became a harmful and evil sore on the people who had the mark of the beast, and who worshiped his image. (3) The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and it became blood as of a dead man. Every living thing in the sea died. (7) I heard the altar saying, "Yes, Lord God, the Almighty, true and righteous are your judgments." (8) The fourth poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was given to him to scorch men with fire.

God is praised because his judgments are just and true.

Next two affect Rome directly:

5th – judgment on the throne of the

beast

People are so hardened that they don’t repent, but curse God

Rev 16:10-11 WEB The fifth poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom was darkened. They gnawed their tongues because of the pain, (11) and they blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores. They didn't repent of their works.

Sixth – dries up the Euphrates for

invading armies

Euphrates was the eastern border of the Roman Empire – the river an enemy would cross to invade.

The last obstacle to the fall of Rome has been taken out of the way.

Rev 16:12 WEB The sixth poured out his bowl on the great river, the Euphrates. Its water was dried up, that the way might be made ready for the kings that come from the sunrise.

Page 11: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

Lesson 12 11

Interlude (16:13-16)Rev 16:13-16 WEB I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits, something like frogs; (14) for they are spirits of demons, performing signs; which go forth to the kings of the whole inhabited earth, to gather them together for the war of that great day of God, the Almighty. (15)"Behold, I come like a thief. Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his clothes, so that he doesn't walk naked, and they see his shame."(16) He gathered them together into the place which is called in Hebrew, Megiddo.

The evil spirits deceive Rome’s allies into gathering to thwart invasion by the forces of righteousness.

Rome & its enemies are lined up for

battle at Armageddon

Har Megiddo – Hill of Megiddo.

Refers to Valley of Jezreel, aka Plain of Megiddo, where many famous OT battles were fought.

It is not near the Euphrates, hence it is not intended to be literal, any more than calling Rome Sodom, Egypt & Jerusalem is literal.

Rev 11:8 WEB Their dead bodies will be in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also their Lord was crucified.

It is symbolic as the battlefield where God’s enemies always meet defeat.

Megiddo was where Deborah

defeated Jabin

Jdg 5:19-20 WEB The kings

came and fought, then the

kings of Canaan fought at

Taanach by the waters of

Megiddo. They took no

plunder of silver. (20) From

the sky the stars fought.

From their courses, they

fought against Sisera.

Page 12: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

The Book of Revelation 5/20/2007

Lesson 12 12

Megiddo was where Jehu killed

Ahaziah

2Ki 9:27 WEB But when

Ahaziah the king of Judah

saw this, he fled by the way

of the garden house. Jehu

followed after him, and said,

Smite him also in the chariot:

and they struck him at the

ascent of Gur, which is by

Ibleam. He fled to Megiddo,

and died there.

Megiddo was where Josiah died at

the hands of Pharaoh Necho

2Ch 35:20-24 WEB F Neco king of Egypt went up to fight against Carchemish by the Euphrates: and Josiah went out against him. (21)But he sent ambassadors to him, saying, What have I to do with you, you king of Judah? F God has commanded me to make haste: beware that it is God who is with me, that he not destroy you. (22)Nevertheless Josiah would not turn his face from him, F and didn't listen to the words of Neco from the mouth of God, and came to fight in the valley of Megiddo. (23) The archers shot at king Josiah; and the king said to his servants, Have me away; for I am sore wounded. (24)F and he died F.

The modern so-called prophets miss

the point.

This battlefield is a symbol

for the final overthrow of

Rome’s evil forces.

The name stands for an

event, not a place.

John anticipates the final

battle, not in northern

Palestine, but in Rome.

Lesson 12 13

The 7th bowl

Rev 16:17-21 WEB

The seventh poured out his bowl into the air. A loud voice came

forth out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, "It is

done!" (18) There were lightnings, sounds, and thunders; and

there was a great earthquake, such as was not since there were

men on the earth, so great an earthquake, so mighty. (19) The

great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the

nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of

God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his

wrath. (20) Every island fled away, and the mountains were not

found. (21) Great hailstones, about the weight of a talent, came

down out of the sky on people. People blasphemed God

because of the plague of the hail, for this plague is exceedingly

severe.

This is symbolic, not literal

It is a fanciful image to

demonstrate the final &

irrevocable fall of Rome &

the effect on the world.

As a matter of fact, there

was worldwide panic and

confusion at the collapse of

Rome. Greater in magnitude

than the crash of the stock

market in 1929, civilization

itself collapsed for a time

with the fall of Rome.

Page 14: 12 hallelujah (part 1) slideshow

The Book of Revelation 5/20/2007

Lesson 12 14

For all her faults H

The Roman Empire was the repository of civilization from the 1st Century BC to the 5th

Century AD.

Roman military might had given the world a 200 year period of peace.

Roman laws had given a degree of social stability to the empire which had been unknown previously

Transportation and communication had been possible on an unprecedented scale.

Civilization was set back for

centuries when the empire collapsed

With the collapse of the Roman Empire, the world plunged into a millennium known as the Dark Ages.

The Goths entered Italy, captured Rome & looted the city in 410 AD

The Vandals plundered the city in 455 AD

The last emperor was deposed by the Germans in 476 AD

Sin is so pervasive that not only individuals & families can be ruined by it, but even a whole culture or civilization.

Lesson 12 15

Introduction to the Prostitute (17:1-6, 18)

Rev 17:1-6 WEB One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying, "Come here. I will show you the judgment of the great prostitute who sits on many waters, (2) with whom the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality, and those who dwell in the earth were made drunken with the wineof her sexual immorality." (3) He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns. (4)The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a goldencup full of abominations and the impurities of the sexual immorality of the earth. (5) And on her forehead a name was written, "MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF THE PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH." (6) I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and withthe blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement F (18) The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth."

She is riding the sea beast

Revelation 17:3 WEB He carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness. I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet-colored animal, full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns.

Revelation 13:1 WEB Then I stood on the sand of the sea. I saw a beast coming up out of the sea, having ten horns and seven heads. On his horns were ten crowns, and on his heads, blasphemous names.

She is the city that rules over the

kings of the earthRev 17:18 WEB The woman whom you saw is the great city, which reigns over the kings of the earth."

No doubt about it, this is Rome.

 Predates Rev 16

Revelation 16:19 WEB The great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell. Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God, to give to her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

She is dressed like a queen

 Mother of abominations

Drunk on the blood of the saints

Rev 17:6 WEB I saw the woman drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. When I saw her, I wondered with great amazement.

Lesson 12 16

Why is she called Babylon the

Great?

Common apocalyptic technique was to call the current evil empire by the name of a previous evil empire which has already been overthrown by God.

This was a technique used by NT writers, as well. Christians in the First Century referred to Rome as Babylon.

1Pe 5:13 WEB She who is in Babylon, chosen together with you, greets you; and so does Mark, my son.

Peter was not writing from the Tigris River, but from the Tiber.

In its day, Babylon was the world – in the 1st Century, Rome was the world.

Explanation of the sea beast

Rev 17:7-17 WEB

The angel said to me, "Why do you wonder? I will tell you the mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and the ten horns. (8) The beast that you saw was, and is not; and is about to come up out of the abyss and to go into destruction. Those who dwell on the earth and whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see that the beastwas, and is not, and shall be present. (9) Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits. (10) They are seven kings. Five have fallen, the one is, the other has not yet come. When he comes, he must continue a little while. (11) The beast that was, and is not, is himself also an eighth, and is of the seven; and he goes to destruction.

Lesson 12 17

Rev 17:7-17 WEB

(12) The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour. (13) These have one mind, and they give their power and authority to the beast. (14) These will war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings. They also will overcome whoare with him, called and chosen and faithful." (15) He said to me, "The waters which you saw, where the prostitute sits, are peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. (16) The ten horns which you saw, and the beast, these will hate the prostitute, and will make her desolate, and will make her naked, and will eat her flesh, and will burn her utterly with fire. (17) For God has put in their hearts to do what he has in mind, and to beof one mind, and to give their kingdom to the beast, until the words of God should be accomplished.

7 hills on which the city of Rome sits

Rev 17:9 WEB Here is the mind that has wisdom. The seven

heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sits.

Seven kings from Augustus – the

eighth is Domitian

Five have fallen:

 Augustus, Tiberius, Caligula, Claudius, Nero

One is: Vespasian

One is yet to come: Titus

The beast is an eighth: Domitian

Client kings join in Rome’s onslaught against Christians

Rev 17:12 WEB The ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority as kings, with the beast, for one hour.

Note: the Barbarian kings were never treated well by Rome & turned on her when invasion came.

Lesson 12 18

The Fall of Babylon (18:1-24)

Announcement of her destructionRev 18:1-8 WEB After these things, I saw another angel coming down out of the sky, having great authority. The earth was illuminated with his glory. (2) He cried with a mighty voice, saying, "Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, and she has become a habitation of demons, a prison of every unclean spirit, and a prison of every unclean and hateful bird! (3) For all the nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of hersexual immorality, the kings of the earth committed sexual immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from the abundance of her luxury." (4) I heard another voice from heaven, saying, "Come out of her, my people, that you have no participation in her sins, and that you don't receive of her plagues, (5) for her sins have reached to the sky, and God has remembered her iniquities. (6) Return to her just as she returned, and repay her double as she did, and according to her works. In the cup which she mixed, mix to her double. (7) However much she glorified herself, and grew wanton, so much give her oftorment and mourning. For she says in her heart, 'I sit a queen, and am no widow, and will in no way see mourning.' (8) Therefore in one day her plagues will come: death, mourning, and famine; and she will be utterly burned with fire; for the Lord God who has judged her is strong.

This captures the OT prophets’

description of the fall of Bablyon

Isa 13:20-22 WEB It will never be inhabited, neither will it be lived in from generation to generation. The Arabian will not pitch a tent there, neither will shepherds make their flocks lie down there. (21) But wild animals of the desert will lie there, and their houses will be full of jackals. Ostriches will dwell there, and wild goats will frolic there. (22)Wolves will cry in their castles, and jackals in the pleasant palaces. Her time is near to come, and her days will not be prolonged.

Jer 51:37-42 WEB Babylon shall become heaps, a dwelling place for jackals, an astonishment, and a hissing, without inhabitant. (38) They shall roar together like young lions; they shall growl as lions' cubs. (39)When they are heated, I will make their feast, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, says Yahweh. (40) I will bring them down like lambs to the slaughter, like rams with male goats. (41) How is Sheshach taken! and the praise of the whole earth seized! how is Babylon become a desolation among the nations! (42) The sea is come up on Babylon; she is covered with the multitude of its waves.

Dan 4:30-32 WEB The king spoke and said, Is not this great Babylon, which I have built for the royal dwelling place, by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty? (31) While the word was in the king's mouth, there fell a voice from the sky, saying, O king Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: The kingdom is departed from you: (32) and you shall be driven from men; and your dwelling shall be with the animals of the field; you shall be made to eat grass as oxen; and seven times shall pass over you; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men, and gives it to whomever he will.

It’s always been the same when

pride lifts a ruler up:Belshazzar

Dan 5:17-28 WEB Then Daniel answered before the king, F (18)You king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father the kingdom, and greatness, and glory, and majesty: F (22) You his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart F (23) but have lifted up yourself against the Lord of heaven; F and the God in whose hand your breath is, and whose are all your ways, you have not glorified. F(25) This is the writing that was inscribed: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN. (26) This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God has numbered your kingdom, and brought it to an end; (27)TEKEL; you are weighed in the balances, and are found wanting. (28) PERES; your kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

It’s always been the same when

pride lifts a ruler up:

Alexander the Great

 Dan 8:8 WEB The male

goat magnified himself

exceedingly: and when he

was strong, the great horn

was broken; and instead of

it there came up four

notable horns toward the

four winds of the sky.

Antiochus Ephiphanes

 Dan 8:25 WEB Through his

policy he shall cause craft to

Rev 18:9-10 WEB The kings of the earth, who committed

sexual immorality and lived wantonly with her, will weep and

wail over her, when they look at the smoke of her burning,

judgment has come in one hour.'

Effect of Rome's fall on the wicked

Merchants: "No more market for our merchandise"

Rev 18:11-17 WEB The merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, for no one buys their merchandise any more; (12)merchandise of gold, silver, precious stones, pearls, fine linen, purple, silk, scarlet, all expensive wood, every vessel of ivory, every vessel made of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble; (13) and cinnamon, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, sheep, horses, chariots, and people's bodies and souls. (14) The fruits which your soul lusted after have been lost to you, and all things that were dainty and sumptuous have perished from you, and you will find them no more at all. (15)The merchants of these things, who were made rich by her, will stand far away for the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning; (16) saying, 'Woe, woe, the great city, she who was dressed in finelinen, purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls! (17) For in an hour such great riches are made desolate.' F
