    CIM qualications are assessed by bothexaminations and assignments. You willnd that the majority o units within our

    qualications are assessed by assignmentand at least one unit at each level isassessed by examination.

    I you choose to sit examinations at centresother than your own study centre, youmay be required to pay or any additionalcosts incurred by The Chartered Institute

    o Marketing when accommodating yourrequirements at these centres.

    Use o languages

    The normal mode o assessment usedby The Chartered Institute o Marketing is(British)Englishlanguage,asEnglishistheglobally recognised language o business.

    All o our assessment papers will bewrittenin(British)Englishandallstudyingmembers will be required to complete theseassessments in English.

    I English isnt your rst language, you willneed to provide us with evidence o at leastIELTS6.5prociencyorTrinityISEIII/IV,orthe C1 level rom the Common EuropeanFramework o Reerences or Languages(CEFR).

    Code o conduct or examinations

    Along with your assessment entrydetails you will receive a leafet entitledAssessment Rules or Candidates. Pleaseread this careully as any breach o the rulesdetailed in this document will be penalisedby The Chartered Institute o Marketing.

    Change o assessment centre

    or subjects

    To change your allocated assessmentcentre, or to amend the subjects or which

    you have indicated you will be takingassessments, you need to contact theCustomer Service Team within sevendays o receiving your initial assessmentconrmation letter. (Please note that theremay be an administration charge o 30.00or making changes).

    Late entries

    You will not be allowed to register oran assessment diet ater the statedassessment registration deadline, apartrom in exceptional situations, in whichcase, a late entry ee o 100 per subjectwill apply. This is irrespective o theassessment method (examinations orassignments).

    Transer o assessment registration

    (rom one diet to a later diet)

    Ater registration to an assessment diethas been received, you will not be allowedto change your assessment registrationto a uture assessment diet withouturther payment, except in extenuatingcircumstances. This applies to registrationor any orm o assessment.

    All requests or transer o assessmentregistration made on the basis oextenuating circumstances should be madein writing with supporting evidence (usually

    medical) to [email protected] process

    You will need to contact your CIM CourseManager i you are unable to completeyour assignment due to extenuatingcircumstances, namely, acute illness orextreme personal circumstances. Note:pressure o work or redundancy (unlessassociated with a medical condition)will not be considered as extenuatingcircumstances.

    Extenuating circumstances

    I you have extenuating circumstances(such as illness, personal diculties,problems during the examination)and would like us to take them intoconsideration during the markingprocess, you should write attaching

    supporting evidence o the impact onyour perormance (eg medical certicate),directly to the Assessments Registrarat The Chartered Institute o Marketingwithin our weeks o the exam date.These requests will be reviewed by theReasonable Adjustment, Misconduct andIrregularities Committee.

    Resubmission policy

    With the exception o Marketing Leadershipand Planning, CIM does not permitresubmissions or assignment based

    units. Students who have not passedan assignment based assessment mustcomplete a new brie, relating to theappropriate session.

    Confdentiality and assessments

    I you work in an organisation that dealswith sensitive material or issues, you mustseek the advice o your line managerabout its inclusion in an assignment.Where condentiality is an issue, StudyingMembersareadvisedtoanonymizetheir assignment so that it cannot beattributed to their particular organisation.The Chartered Institute o Marketingor its part accepts responsibility ormarking the assignment ollowing thecondentiality procedures it has laiddown. All CIM examiners have to sign aCondentiality Agreement and cannotmark any assignment where there is aconfict o interest. In addition, no work ispublished without the prior agreement oa Studying Member and their organisation.

    All assignments are stored securely andater 12 months, shredded condentially.

    Malpractice policy

    Malpractice by Studying Members isdescribed below, but is not limited to thesestatements.

    CIM reserves the right to deem asmalpractice other acts that might occur.

    Malpractice by Studying Members isdeemed to occur when unauthorisedmeans are used to gain an unair advantagein an assessment situation.

    Examples o Studying Member malpractice:

    Plagiarism. CollusionbetweenStudyingMembers

    to pass o work carried out jointly asthough it were one Studying Memberswork only.

    ImpersonationofanotherStudyingMember during an examination orassessment.

    Fabricationofresultsand/orevidence. FailingtoabidebytheInstitutes

    regulations or advice rom an AccreditedStudy Centre, assessor, examiner and/or

    invigilator. Misuseofassessmentmaterial. Alterationofanyresultsdocuments,

    including certicates. Attemptingtodeceiveexaminers. Possessionofunauthorisedmaterialin

    the examination or assessment room. FailuretoadheretotheInstitutes

    published assessment regulations. Disruptivebehaviourintheexamination

    room, eg oensive language, aggressive,violent or noisy conduct.
