Sokkia’s revolutionary digital signal processing technology, RED-tech, relies on a unique procedure for measurement beam analysis. Using anA/D converter, it simultaneously samples measuring signals in three different frequencies. Furthermore, RED-tech uses advanced software tocalculate distances. As a result, RED-tech ensures that the calculation method most suited to the condition of the measuring beam is selected. Italso is able to deliver greater accuracy, speed, and range.

And now, RED-tech has been furtherenhanced through the inclusion of improvedoptical and electronic components. Its newlight emitting and receiving optics provide theideal light path for capturing light withminimal loss. Measure long distances by directing the laser beam at a reflector. When using a single AP prism, you canmeasure as far as 5,000m (16,000ft.)* at once, with an accuracy of ±(2 + 2ppm x D)mm. In addition, reflectivesheet targets may be used to get measurements of up to 500m (1,600ft.)** with ±(3 + 2ppm x D)mm precision.Choose from Sokkia’s wide selection of sheet targets to suit your needs. Rotating pin-pole targets, two-pointtarget for measuring hidden points, and many other innovative reflective targets are available.

In the reflective sheet or prism modes, maximum laser output is automatically reduced to0.22mW. This is equivalent to the level of an IEC/FDA Class 1/I laser. The Series030R alsoincludes a safety filter in the telescope, which protects your eye from the laser beam if youhappen to sight a reflective prism or sheet target while in reflectorless mode.

The Series030R employs an ultra small-diameter visible laser to obtain measurements with pinpointaccuracy. Fine objects, as well as the corners of walls and other structures, can be measured precisely.You can also make accurate measurements through obstacles such as chain-link fences and treebranches.

A Series030R: The ultra-narrow laser beam enables accurate measurements through obstacles such as chain-link fences, tree branches, etc. Broader beam models: Both the fence and wall get measured, which leads to erroneous measurement.

CSeries030R: Measurements at small incident angles, such as with manholes on the road surface, are handled with high precision by the ultra-narrow laser measuring beam. Broader beam models: Wider measuring beams end up covering a larger area than expected at small incident angles, resulting in measurements that are too long or short.

BSeries030R: The measuring beam is extremely narrow, so distances to walls and corners can be measured with pinpoint accuracy. Broader beam models: A wide measuring beam hits points near and far at the same time, resulting in inaccurate measurement.

The Series030R total stations are equipped with Sokkia-developedabsolute encoders. These encoders feature the RAB (RAndom Bi-directional) code technology first used in the SDL30 digital level,which provides high stability and reliability. You do not need to resetfor 0 indexing at the start of a job, so surveying can begin from themoment you turn on the power. Work efficiency is also boosted bythe immediate display of azimuth whenever you restart the totalstation.

Vertical and horizontal angles are compensated for by a dual-axiscompensator that detects the tilt of the total station in two directions.In addition, a collimation function corrects the deviation of thetelescope’s mechanical axis. ■ SF14 wireless keyboard (option)The SF14 wireless keyboard has atotal of 37 keys (includingalphanumeric keys, softkeys, andmeasurement controls), to enablequick and easy data entry of pointnames and coordinate values.Because all keyoperations can beperformed with thiswireless keyboard,you won’t need to

touch the total station after it’s beenaimed at the target. Protection againstdust and water is another advantage, as

you can use the keyboard without worry in therain or at a dusty construction site (IP44compliant). The SF14 wireless keyboard can alsobe used with Series30R and Series10 totalstations.

■ FOF sensorsSokkia’s original and extremely compact FOF(Fiber made of Optical Filter material) sensorsare mounted on two sides of Series030R totalstations for communication with the optionalSF14 wireless keyboard. The Guide Light Unit GDL2 boosts efficiency with setting-out jobs. Itsguide light is composed of two lights of different colors that areemitted from one aperture. From the left side, you see only a greenlight; from the right, only a red light. And when you see green andred flashing back and forth simultaneously, that means you are onthe telescope sighting direction. The GDL2 has a range of up to150m (490ft.). A special flashing pattern is also included to assistusers with color weakness.

SURVEY (SURV)

The Survey program greatly simplifies topography, traverse surveying, building face surveying, and other applications.

■ TopographyThe Series030R can average multiple observations for moreaccurate results. Tolerances are definable by the user. Thisprogram includes three types of convenient offset measurementfunctions: "two-distance offset," "single-distance offset," and "angleoffset" for hidden points that cannot be observed directly.

■ Traverse AdjustmentThe Traverse Adjustment program allows you to specify a sequenceof stations through which a traverse may be calculated andoptionally adjusted. The observations do not have to be made in thesame order as the traverse route.

■ Set CollectionThe Series030R averages observations collected on Face 1 andFace 2 of the instrument and also averages multiple sets ofobservations. The resulting observations can be used either fortraverse calculations or resection calculations.

■ Building Face SurveyThe Building Face Survey program allows points on both vertical andnon-vertical planes to be coordinated by angle-only-observations inorder to pick up details of a building where the prism cannot beplaced.

■ Taping from BaselineThe Taping from Baseline program allows you to set out by distanceand offset from the baseline or to collect the topographical details bydistance and offset.

■ Set Out Road SurfaceThe Set Out Road Surface program allows setting out of the cut orfill at any point on a road surface. Simply take a reading, and thecut/fill value is displayed. The design elevation can then be set ifrequired.

The Roading program is one of the most comprehensive and powerful setting out solutions for road construction work. Horizontalalignment, vertical alignment, templates, side-slopes, road cross-sections, super-elevation, and widening can be defined as desired.Any point along the road can then be set out by specifying its station and offset.
