HW: Read Ch. 61-70; complete the Commas worksheet; be ready to turn in your track changes for the timed writing next class.

Remember: the highlighted original, the how/why chart, and your track changes revision is going to be a quiz grade. If you raise your score on the AP-scale by 5 points, you get 5 points added to your original grade.

Introductory Structures

Turn to pg. 854 in WWP Write down in your notes: introductory

structures need commas to separate them from the independent clause. When they come before an independent clause, they need commas. (some structures also need commas at the end of independent clauses, like participle phrases)

Introductory Structures

Add the following to your notes:Infinitive phrases can also be introductory

structures if they are NOT immediately followed by a verb, and instead are followed by an independent clause.

Ex: To win the basketball game, he trained arduously for months.

The following would not need a comma: To win the basketball game is his greatest goal.

Track changes procedures

Go to my website and download the power point on the No Knows I went over last class. Read through them again, to review what I went over, before you start track changes.

Are you using your resource packet?? I expect to see marker verbs, and if you scored low on commentary, I expect to see you using the flow charts in the back.

Are you addressing the prompt in your thesis? How does the author use elements of voice to reveal the main character’s changing perspective on the news she has received?

If you finish your track changes, you can print them. Add printer P055. Then, you will turn in your old essay (with everything attached—story, prompt, highlighted original), and you will turn in your printed track changes.
