High fuel price blamed for pay first-trend at pumps
Motorists being asked to pay first when filling up, is attributed to the current economy and the high fuel price, according to Gavin Smith, Engen spokesperson, who says there is a marked increase in incidents of people driving off without paying since the fuel price had surpassed the R10 a litre-mark. This happens especially in high risk periods such as late-night and early-morning business. Last week saw the price of 95-octaine increasing by 7 cents a litre and 93-octane going up by 5
cents a litre, having consumers pay R14,39 and R13.98 in Gauteng and the coastal areas respectively.
