How to get to Lübeck By airplane:

Luebeck airport: The Hungarian-Polish airline Wizz Air flies from/to Luebeck from or to Danzig (Poland) and Kiev (the Ukraine). Further information at www.wizzair.com.

Getting from Luebeck airport to Luebeck's town centre is easy: The number 6 bus route starts right in front of the Luebeck airport and leaves every 20 min for the central bus station and back (journey approx. 30 min). A train leaves for the main train station every hour from the "Lübeck Flughafen" stop and back again (journey approx. 8 min).

Hamburg Airport is the closest major international airport.

From Hamburg Airport you can get the S-Bahn (suburban rail network) line S1. Line S1 operates every 10 min between Hamburg Airport and Hamburg’s central railway station, Hauptbahnhof, a journey of 25 min. Trains from Hamburg central station to Luebeck central station operate from 8 am - 8 pm, every 30 min and before and after that every hour (journey approx. 40 min). The “Hamburg Airport (Flughafen)” S-Bahn station is directly in front of the terminals and is easily reached by lift, escalator or stairs.

By train: Trains from Hamburg arrive at Luebeck main station every hour. From there you can reach the meeting location within a 5-10 min walk.

By car: You can reach Luebeck via Autobahn A1 from Copenhagen and Hamburg (exits „Lübeck Zentrum“ or „Lübeck Moisling“) or via A20 from Rostock, A24 from Berlin and change in Hamburg onto the A1.

The Stadtverkehr Lübeck GmbH operates the public transport system in Luebeck and the surrounding area. Information on timetables, tickets and tariffs are available from www.stadtverkehr-luebeck.de, www.scout-sh.de or Tel.: +49 (0) 4 51/8 88 28 28. Wednesday, June 3, 2015:

19.00 - 21:30 Get-together Party Audience Hall ("Audienzsaal") of the Town Hall ("Rathaus") of the Hanseatic City of Luebeck, Breite Straße 62 Welcome by Mr. Bernd Saxe, Mayor of the City of Lüb eck The Town Hall of Luebeck was commenced by the citizens in 1230 and was modified and extended during the following centuries. Hence, it incorporates a variety of styles from the Gothic to the Renaissance. Today the Town Hall still meets its purpose as domicile of the municipal parliament, the Senate, and the top-departments of the administration. In former times the Audience Hall used to be the convention room of the Hanseatic High Court. Its present outfit and equipment of the Rococo style originates from the years between 1754 and 1761. The paintings by the Italian artist Stefano Torelli show allegorical motives: the liberal arts, trade, freedom, mercy, harmony, industry and abundance, vigilance, intelligence, moderation, and discretion. The interior portal of the Audience Hall dates to 1573 and shows in reliefs the judgement of Solomon, the justice and affection. The portal had/has two openings: Those convicted had to stoop to pass through the lower door, but those acquitted could walk upright through the high one.

Thursday, June 4, 2015:

Friday, June 5, 2015:

17:00 – 19:00: Sightseeing walk We invite you to join us for a leisurely stroll of about 2 hours through medieval Hanseatic Luebeck. We will show you its most beautiful corners, such as typical brick-buildings, courtyards and city-gates. UNESCO declared the existing cityscape to be a World Cultural Heritage Site in 1987.

10:00 – 12:00: European Hansemuseum Lübeck Location: An der Untertrave 1 In this new museum (opened by end of May 2015) we will go on a unique trip through 600 years of Hanseatic history. Extending across northern Europe and the Baltic, the Hanse was a powerful economic alliance, in which first merchants and later towns joined together to promote trade. Modern museum technology, original exhibits, media stations, reconstructed scenes as well as graphics and statistics will explain the historical connections (www.hansemuseum.eu.).
