Oh, say can you see, by the dawn’s early light, what so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, through the perilous fight, o’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave o’er

Igniting the Spirit of Innovation!

Marketplace for Kids started in 1995 as a pilot. Elementary teachers from Jamestown, Fargo, West Fargo and other areas met in Jamestown to design a concept that would encourage students to showcase their innovative ideas and attend age appropriate experiential classes of all types. The Advisory Leadership Team for the pilot selected Jamestown as the site. Over 600 students/teachers/advisors participated that first year. The Team deemed the Education Day as a big success. In year 1997 the regional concept was developed, suggesting that Marketplace for Kids would expand as interest grew. In 2017 eleven Education Days will be held.

The first Marketplace for Kids in Bottineau was held on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Dakota College at Bottineau. The Fauske Fiddlers, brothers Tyrell 19 and Austin 17, of Bottineau opened the Education Day fiddling into the hearts of all attendees. The Day Child Singers, Dunseith Indian Day School, closed the day with song and dance teaching us to respect our elders and their Native American way of life.

During the day, students attended a variety of classes/activities. Students from Bottineau, Dunseith, Lansford, Rugby, Westhope and Belcourt participated.
