Lincoln is not just the capital of Nebraska - it has somany hidden gems that we want you to experience atthis year’s NAFSA Region II conference.

Here’s just a few of them:

1. Because the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s mascot is the cornhusker, you finally get to be fashionable and wear the hat of your dreams!

2. Ever want a Happy Hour every day? So do we! This year’s conference hotel not only includes a complementary breakfast (and, we are not just talking pastries, we are talking custom-made omelets) but a FREE Happy Hour every day. Come shmooze with Region II!

3. Think back to your favorite NAFSA Regional Conference. Was it walkable? This one will be too! We are talking about a theatre, restaurants, bars, breweries, international licorice (because we all get that craving, right?), antiquing, and so much more - all within a short walk of the conference hotel.

4. Want to visit the world’s best zoo? Stick around on Friday and visit the Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium, ranked as the best zoo in the world by TripAdvisor.

5. Baker’s Candies, Reubens, Runzas, Kool-Aid and Dorothy Lynch Dressing. If you are a fan of any of these (or, even if you haven’t tried them), come to Lincoln to sample some of Nebraska’s best!

6. Memorial Stadium becomes the third largest city in the state during football games. With a sell-out capacity of almost 92,000, the University of Nebraska’s football stadium would be the third largest city in the state after Omaha (434,000) and Lincoln (268,000)! You’ll even get to sample some traditional Nebraska “Dock Party” tailgating during our Opening Reception.

7. Not a sports fan, but like exploring interesting museums? Check out the Museum of American Speed, International Quilt Study Center and Museum, and the Larsen Tractor Museum. Want something more historical!? How about looking at the Magna Carta - which dates back to the early 13th century? It’s one of only three places in the world where you can see an original!

8. If you plan on driving from Colorado or Wyoming, you will not want to miss Carhenge! Okay, so it’s not as cool as Stonehenge, but if you’ve ever wanted to see 39 automobiles arranged like Stonehenge, now is your chance! We are international, right?

9. If politics has you down, then Nebraska won’t! Did you know that Nebraska is the only unicameral legislature in the US - that means there is a single-house system AND there are no party affiliations listed on voting ballots! Can’t we all just get along :)

10. Have you met Archie? Head to the University of Nebraska State Museum, you can find his 14-foot fossil, which is the biggest mammoth on display anywhere. But don’t worry, after this conference you won’t feel this old!
