1 Samuel 291 And the Philistines gathered all their armies to Aphek. And the

Israelites pitched by a fountain in Jezreel. 2 And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds and by

thousands. But David and his men passed on in the rear with Achish.

3 And the rulers of the Philistines said, What are these Hebrews doing? And Achish said to the rulers of the Philistines, Is this not David the servant of Saul the king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years. And I have not found anything evil in him from the day he fell away until today?

1 Les Philistins rassemblèrent toutes leurs troupes à Aphek, et Israël campa près de la source de Jizreel.

2 Les princes des Philistins s'avancèrent avec leurs centaines et leurs milliers, et David et ses gens marchaient à l'arrière-garde avec Akisch.

3 Les princes des Philistins dirent: Que font ici ces Hébreux? Et Akisch répondit aux princes des Philistins: N'est-ce pas David, serviteur de Saül, roi d'Israël? il y a longtemps qu'il est avec moi, et je n'ai pas trouvé la moindre chose à lui reprocher depuis son arrivée jusqu'à ce jour.

4 And the rulers of the Philistines were angry with him. And the Philistine rulers said to him, Send the man back, and he shall return to his place where you have appointed him. And he shall not go down with us to battle, and shall not become an enemy to us in battle. For with what should he reconcile himself to his master? Should it not be with the heads of these men?

5 Is not this David, of whom they sang to one another in dances, saying, Saul killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

6 And Achish called David and said to him, Surely, as Jehovah lives, you have been upright, and your going out and your coming in with me in the army is good in my sight. For I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to me until today. But you are not good in the eyes of the lords.

4 Mais les princes des Philistins s'irritèrent contre Akisch, et lui dirent: Renvoie cet homme, et qu'il retourne dans le lieu où tu l'as établi; qu'il ne descende pas avec nous sur le champ de bataille, afin qu'il ne soit pas pour nous un ennemi pendant le combat. Et comment cet homme rentrerait-il en grâce auprès de son maître, si ce n'est au moyen des têtes de nos gens?

5 N'est-ce pas ce David pour qui l'on chantait en dansant: Saül a frappé ses mille, Et David ses dix mille?

6 Akisch appela David, et lui dit: L'Éternel est vivant! tu es un homme droit, et j'aime à te voir aller et venir avec moi dans le camp, car je n'ai rien trouvé de mauvais en toi depuis ton arrivée auprès de moi jusqu'à ce jour; mais tu ne plais pas aux princes.

7 And return now, and go in peace so that you do not displease the lords of the Philistines.

8 And David said to Achish, But what have I done? And what have you found in your servant so long as I have been with you to this day, that I may not go fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

9 And Achish answered and said to David, I know that you are good in my sight, like an angel of God. But the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go up with us to the battle.

10 And now, rise up early in the morning with your master's servants who have come with you. And as soon as you have light, depart.

11 And David and his men rose up early to leave in the morning, to return into the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

7 Retourne donc et va-t'en en paix, pour ne rien faire de désagréable aux yeux des princes des Philistins.

8 David dit à Akisch: Mais qu'ai-je fait, et qu'as-tu trouvé en ton serviteur depuis que je suis auprès de toi jusqu'à ce jour, pour que je n'aille pas combattre les ennemis de mon seigneur le roi?

9 Akisch répondit à David: Je le sais, car tu es agréable à mes yeux comme un ange de Dieu; mais les princes des Philistins disent: Il ne montera point avec nous pour combattre.

10 Ainsi lève-toi de bon matin, toi et les serviteurs de ton maître qui sont venus avec toi; levez-vous de bon matin, et partez dès que vous verrez la lumière.

11 David et ses gens se levèrent de bonne heure, pour partir dès le matin, et retourner dans le pays des Philistins. Et les Philistins montèrent à Jizreel.

1 Samuel 30:1-81 And it happened when David and his men had come to Ziklag on the

third day, the Amalekites had invaded the south and Ziklag, and had struck Ziklag, and burned it with fire.

2 And they had seized the women in it. They did not kill any, either small or great, but carried them away and went on their way.

3 And David and his men came to the city, and behold, it was burned with fire, and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been taken captives.

4 And David and the people with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep.

3 David et ses gens arrivèrent à la ville, et voici, elle était brûlée; et leurs femmes, leurs fils et leurs filles, étaient emmenés captifs.

4 Alors David et le peuple qui était avec lui élevèrent la voix et pleurèrent jusqu'à ce qu'ils n'eussent plus la force de pleurer.

5 And David's two wives had been seized, Ahinoam of Jezreel, and Abigail, the former wife of Nabal of Carmel.

6 And it greatly distressed David, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, each one for his sons and for his daughters. But David encouraged himself in Jehovah his God.

7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech's son, Please bring the ephod here to me. And Abiathar brought the ephod there to David.

8 And David inquired of Jehovah, saying, Shall I go after this troop? Shall I overtake them? And He answered him, Go! For you shall surely overtake and will without fail recover all.

5 Les deux femmes de David avaient été emmenées, Achinoam de Jizreel, et Abigaïl de Carmel, femme de Nabal.

6 David fut dans une grande angoisse, car le peuple parlait de le lapider, parce que tous avaient de l'amertume dans l'âme, chacun à cause de ses fils et de ses filles. Mais David reprit courage en s'appuyant sur l'Éternel, son Dieu.

7 Il dit au sacrificateur Abiathar, fils d'Achimélec: Apporte-moi donc l'éphod! Abiathar apporta l'éphod à David.

8 Et David consulta l'Éternel, en disant: Poursuivrai-je cette troupe? l'atteindrai-je? L'Éternel lui répondit: Poursuis, car tu atteindras, et tu délivreras.

They were afraid of God, and of the ark of testimony

They recognized the hand of the God of

But they are not willing to worship and know the true God

will be killed by the Philistines

David dealt with the Amalekites right away

the Philistines
