Read the following passage then answer the questions below:
I don't know if you have been to London. If you have, like it happened to me when I
visited my aunt. You've probably travelled in the rush hour, and you've probably been to
Oxford Circus. During the rush hour, there, the queue ( طابور) for the underground stretches for
a hundred yards along the pavement and around a few corners. You just have to join and slowly
edge forward.
She told me to go to the early performance at the cinema near Oxford Circus. I came out
about eight o'clock and walked towards the tube station. To my surprise I saw a queue exactly
as long as you usually see in the rush hour. I joined it, trying to work out why there were so
many people at that time. I eventually decided that a lot of people must have done what I had.
I waited for about ten minutes until we started to move forward. Like all English people,
I had a newspaper with me. I took it out and read it as I moved forward. When I was at the front

People often collect things. Stamps, books and records are common things they like to
collect. But the strangest collection I have ever seen belongs to a man who possesses 1500
clocks.
This man is called Mr. James. He is an old man of about 88 years old. He lives in a small village

Human beings need food, water and air which are all necessary for survival. People cannot
live without food to eat and oxygen to breathe. When it is cold, they need heat, clothes and place
to live. The environment provides these needs. People use the land and oceans for food. The
atmosphere which is the air around the earth contains oxygen. Energy for heat comes from
petroleum, trees or the sun.

environment quickly. Some of these changes are harmful because they disturb the balance of
nature. One such example is pollution.
Factories release many chemical gases into the air. Gases from cars also cause air pollution
especially in big cities. Chemicals in the air cause smog in many large cities such as Tokyo and
Los Angeles. It is a disaster to breathe the air in these cities.

Relative pronouns are used to tell us which person or thing the speaker means.

* The book which/that gives you a lot of information is useful.
