[57] Abstract:

Solar-powered drying is the best alternative solution for all the drawbacks of traditional drying. Dryers not only saves energy but also saves time, occupies less area and improves quality of the product, makes the process more efficient and protects the environment. Solar energy can be used for the entire drying process or for supplementing artificial drying systems, thus reducing the total amount of fuel energy. This invention aims to reduce the dependency on power from the electric utility company, which uses fossil fuels, and to alleviate the problems associated with fish, meat and vegetable processing. Data analysis revealed that the solar-powered dryer help speed up the drying process and produced high quality products that were free from insects, dusts, larva, birds and animals. The PV-based dryer gave the temperature that is higher than that of the ambient temperature which is more effective or favorable for drying of agricultural products.

[57] Abstract:

A monitoring device used for detecting and analyzing the stress on a structure, specifically on beams, to determine its stability condition in order to attain a safety home or building structural management. The monitoring device comprises a metallic plate positioned at the center of beam used as a base material for the detection zone of beam failures, strain sensors for the analysis of strain presence, a material for a means of analyzing and processing the inputs from the sensors, and also a material used for a means of warning or giving alarm. The dimensions and material of the monitoring device are chosen such that a predetermined level of strain transmitted to the monitoring device from the structure will result in a known level of strain in the detection zone. Detection of strain in the detection zone can be correlated to a level of stress and strain experienced by the structure at the point of attachment of the monitoring device.

The present invention relates to a device for measuring moisture content of copra so that buyers will know how much amount of loss or moisture content excess in particular copra which must be deducted on the price itself and also benefits the copra farmers were they can monitor the level of moisture to meet the ideal moisture level so that zero deducted on price. The device comprises of a microcontroller that performs the arithmetic operation and the execution of the instruction of sets with its interface, a solar power bank that provide the power of the system, a display provides the display of the measured moisture contents, a probes which provide the direct contact with the copra by generating voltage level as it passes into the sensor and moisture sensors for detecting the moisture level of copra as the voltage signal varies by its moisture content which determine if the copra is less than 6% moisture content out of 100 %. The measured less than 6% moisture content is the standard if the coconut meats belongs to the family of copra and will tell the user that the price cannot be deducted by its moisture content. This device applies direct contact with the samples to measure its individual moisture content which will be viewed in the display provided.

DNA probes of varying lengths and amplified product sizes for use in simultaneous and comprehensive detection of different bacterial pathogens are described. A qPCR assay successfully detected the individual species in single or mixed DNA conditions. Multi-species specificity tests proved the high specificity of each probe to specific bacterial target. Optimized qPCR conditions enabled discrimination on the degree of specificity of each probe. The DNA probe kits are also described which form integral components in qPCR assay along with the developed qPCR protocols for bacterial pathogen detection. The current approach can be also utilized for comprehensive clinical diagnosis in humans and other organisms.
