In September 2008, OAO Kazanorgsyntez commissioned the polycarbonate plant rated at 65,000 MT a year.

This is the only polycarbonate production facility both in Russia and in the CIS. The Kazan factory is the world’s second after a Taiwan enterprise to manufacture "pure" polycarbonate (based on carbon oxide).

Owing to their thermal and impact resistance and chemical inertness, polycarbonates are widely used in automotive and aircraft industries, the construction sector, electrical and electronic engineering, production of medical equipment, the children's goods, durable advertising structures, and other areas of consumer goods production.
