2- Irrigation, drainage and land reclamation of 7800 Fed south of Port Said.

My responsibility was the construction supervision management of all aspects of the project, having a total value of US$ 6 million funded by the WORLD BANK and IFAD.

1 st December 2002 – 31 st August 2003: -

Canal Harbour and Great Projects Company - Egypt, worked in the capacity of project manager on;The dredging and slope protection project for Damietta Export and Storage Facilities for LNG.

- Client: United Gas Derivatives Company (UGDC).- Consultant: Consortium (Tractebel Gas Engineering & Enppi).- Total Value: $ 9.25 million.

*. Description of the Project: The scope of works comprises the dredging area to the loading jetty for Damietta export and storage facilities to a depth of – 14.5m CD and protects the dredged side slopes by a rock revetment. The total quantity of dredged materials was about 1,500,000.00m3.

My responsibility was project construction management of all aspects of the project.

**. 5 th May 2002 – 19 th October 2002:

*. Description of the Project;The scope of works comprises the dredging of approach channel to - 4.5m CD and the harbour basin to - 4.0m CD in the existing Shinas Harbour. Material arising from the dredging operation is to be utilised as land and maritime reclamation.Supply and installation of 3 No. channel maker buoys (navigational aids) in the approach channel.

Ibn Khaldun Consulting Engineers in association with Halcrow International Partnership - Sultanate of Oman. Worked in the capacity of Assistant Resident Marine Engineer on;The supervision of the breakwaters construction for the New Industrial Port at Wilayat Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman.---

Contractor: Daewoo Corporation (Korea).Client: Ministry of Transport and Communication.Total Value: $ 65 million.

Description of the Project;The project consists of two breakwaters for the new port, both 3 km in length and terminating with roundheads which are founded at a level of –16.5 m (chart datum). In additions there are two shorter breakwaters forming the fishery harbour. The total length is about 7 Kilometres.

The breakwater construction consists of a 1 – 1000 kg rock core capped with 1–3 t and 2–6 t rock armour on the port side. On the seaward side rock underlayer is used as a base for precast concrete “Core-Loc” units of various sizes ranging from 0.5 m3 to 3.0 m3. A mass concrete crest wall completes the structure.

A total of 2.8 million cubic metres of rock was required for the project, which was sourced locally from a specially opened quarry. The Core-Loc units were manufactured on site using a dedicated batching plant and casting yard. About 81,000 units are required. The total quantity of dredged materials for breakwaters foundations was about 500,000.00m3.

My responsibility was:-

Construction of the Container Berth-Port Said (total cost L.E 26millions) (Client Port Said Port Authority) - Sub Contractor: F. Selmer Company (Norway) for the following items;Dredging and slope protection work to depth 14.0 m. The total quantity of dredged materials is about 1,500,000.00m3. Reclamation works 450,000.00m3Berth structure 350 m. length including:Front Sheet piles 22.5 m. and anchor Sheet piles 6 m.Installation 21m ties rods. diameter 50 mm between the front and anchor sheet piles.534 steel piles (vertical and inclined) depth pipes up to 65m and diameter 71.1 mm (Off-shore). Cast in place R.C. beams.Installation of Precast R.C. planks and fender beams units cast in place finishing concrete. Installation of rails crane (40-ton capacity).Installation of bollards and fenders (100-ton capacity).

The scope of works comprises the construction of the following;Dredging and slope protection work to – 8.00 m.16 m sheet piles length, anchor sheet piles 4m, 12m tie rods.Cast in place sheet piles concrete caps. Installation of bollards and fenders.

Port Said Shore Protection Breakwater, 1000 m in length.The Client: Egyptian shore protection authority. The Total Value L.E. 6 millions.The scope of works comprises the construction of the following;On-shore protection breakwater in front of Port Said Airport using; geotextile, basalt, bitumen, sand mastic and dredging (100,000.00m3).
