The late Lynn Hopewell, defines it as the people who "are responsible for the management of money.

In July 1997, several CFA candidates, investment practitioners, and members of the academe decided to form a society to answer the need of raising the standards of knowledge, competence, professionalism, and ethics in the field of finance and investment. The CFA Society of the Philippines (CFAP) was thus created.

Ten years later, CFAP has grown to 92 members and over 700 candidates. More than 200 of these candidates have passed at least the CFA Level 1 exam. To fulfill its commitment, various activities such as providing scholarships and continuing education programs have been done. The Society has also remained a venue to build an ever-growing network of finance and investment professionals.

Nowadays, ordinary Filipinos are being encouraged to participate in other mediums of saving apart from the traditional way of safekeeping at a bank. More and more Filipinos are open to the idea of investing but lack the knowledge to do so. In this light, CFAP becomes relevant – as a society of highly experienced and principled investment professionals who can be trusted with your hard-earned savings.

Whether you are a CFA candidate, a field practitioner, or someone looking to manage your finances, read on! This newsletter will not only shed light on CFAP as a society, the CFA designation and its importance, but it also provides valuable information to those on their way to become a CFA charterholder.
