Jos Clotet fundou a empresa em 1963.Aconteceu no muitos anos depois da pri-meira estao televisiva entrar no ar emBarcelona. De repente no tinha apenasos instaladores de antenas, mas tambmos fabricantes de televisores precisavamde analisadores de sinal e acima de tudoanalisadores de geradores standeriza-dos. No primeiro ano a PROMAX j tinhaquatro engenheiros e cada um desenvol-veu a sua prpria unidade. A produodestas quatro unidades recentementeconcebidas surgiu no ano seguinte: em1964 j tinha dez trabalhadores.

Em 1968 apareceu uma segunda esta-o televisiva na banda UHF. Novamentea PROMAX presente e iniciaram a entregado primeiro analisador de sinal UHF.

Em 1986 mais uma iniciativa daPROMAX: o primeiro analisador de sinal eem 1993 o primeiro analisador universalcontrolado por um microprocessador que

abrangia tudo desde VHF/UHF (incluindoFM) para a captao por satlite.

Hoje a PROMAX ainda pertence a JosClotet. Em 2005 o seu filho Jos MariaClotet assumiu as operaes comerciaise, em 2007 a PROMAX foi dividida emquatro divises: Teste & Medio, Trans-misso, Distribuio de TV e ElectronicTraining.

ensinou instaladores e engenheiros autilizar os nossos produtos. Deste ser-vio apenas resultaram cerca de 10%das suas vendas, mas foi um gesto deboa vontade da PROMAX pelo que nodeve ser subestimado.

Jos-Maria Clotet, PROMAXs CEO, explains the basic idea behind the PROMAXstrategy: the four possible reception sources satellite, antenna, video sources (e.g.DVD) or live camera are PROMAX amplied and modulated and routed using DVB-Ttechnology wirelessly or via cable.

No time for the camera: the International Sales Team correspondswith international customers. One third of PROMAXs sales aredomestic, another third go to Europe with the remaining third goingto the rest of the world. This ratio has remained relatively constant for many years. Of course, PROMAX delivers products matched to theregion they go to, for example, ATSC to North America or DMB-TH toChina.

With just a few mouse clicks, thetechnician can test from a distancethe DVB-T reception of any of thesestations, verify the signal strengthand measure any necessaryparameters.

As a DVB-T specialist, PROMAX provides a special service: the testing of the transmitted signal.The Spanish General Direction for Telecommunication uses PROMAX products and software tonot only technically verify the transmitted DVB-T signals but also to detect any illegal transmittingstations. Scattered throughout the country are automatic monitoring stations that can be accessedby technicians through a network. A reference station was also installed at PROMAX and can beseen here in this photo.
