formerly known as ANSI A58.1 and as recommended by AAMA TIR-
A2, "Design Wind Loads for Aluminum Curtain walls".
b. The exterior walls shall be designed to withstand both the inward
pressure acting inward and the outward pressure acting outward, the two
pressures being applied separately.

member or 10mm, whichever is least, except that when a finished
surface is affected this deflection shall be not more than 1/360 of the
clear span.
e. The deflection of any member, in a direction parallel to the wall plane,
when the member carries its full design load, shall not exceed 75
percent of the design clearance dimension between that member and the
panel, sash, glass or other part adjacent to it.
f. Structural strength : The system is to capable of carrying
the vertical loads safely to the steel
structure at each floor level.
The system is to be able to withstand
forces from the wind as defined in the
wind tunnel test , or a minimum of 1.2
kN/m² applied as a suction or pressure.
For the purposes of pricing only:
The following loads shall be
considered for design purposes:
• In areas local to corners adjacent to
existing towers extending
- 4.5 kN/m².
