    The call objectives are:

to identify, scale up and validate cost-effective technologies, devices and approaches forcontinuous monitoring and recording of environmental conditions, quality, safety andpotential energy savingsthroughout the chain of production, transportation, storage anddistribution for chilled or frozen foods.

Special attention should be given to refrigerated transportas the most hazardous chainelement.

Monitoring and control devices may include suitable tools for in situ measurements, sensors to register environmental factors, modern wireless transceiver technologies, spatial remote sensing platforms, data collection platforms, global navigation satellitesystems, radio-frequency identification, open and scaleable softwareetc., along withdevices to register the handling of refrigerated perishable goods.

to identify and validate novel chilling and/or freezing techniquesto ensure improvedtransportation and storage conditions as compared to the currently most common methods,

to assess microbiological risksduring cold storage as well as technical, regulatory andsocio-economic aspects of market penetrationshould be assessed by employing HACCPapproacheswherever appropriate.
