ANNUAL REPORT 2016-2017

I feel privileged to present before you a brief report of the activities and achievements of

St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery in the academic year 2016-17. I present before you the

summary of the report which runs into many pages.

I New Office Bearers and Blessing of the College on the Re-opening Day

Dr. V. J. Peter, Head of the Department of Physics and Dr. Rosephilo K J, Head of the

department of Chemistry & Dr. Sobhana Michael, Head of the department of Hindi, assumed

the office as Principal and Vice Principals respectively on 01/06/2016. On this occasion we

acknowledge the selfless-service rendered by Dr. Edwin Xavier, the former principal during

the last academic year.

II Students’ Strength (as on 01/01/2020)

The total student strength including the intake during the current academic year for UG &

PG are 1371 and 193 respectively, which comes to a total of 1564.

III Staff

The total staff strength of the College as on 01.03.2020 are as follows:

Teaching Staff - 72

Non-Teaching Staff - 10

IV University Examination Results

The College is blessed with very good results, both in UG and PG Examinations during

the current academic year. Moreover, our students bagged ranks and distinctions for the various

University Examinations conducted by Mahatma Gandhi University during 2015- 2016. 13

students secured A+ and 36 students bagged A grade. The detailed result analysis is given

below:

(i) Publications

Our faculty and research scholars published more than 6 research papers in reputed

National/International journals and about 11 research papers in regional level journals and

conference/seminar proceedings.

VII Seminars and Workshops

Various seminars and workshops were conducted by every department during the year 2016-

2017 - A total of 23 Seminars and Workshops were conducted during this academic year.

VIII Achievement of Students

Altogether 20 students achieved various prizes in cultural as well as sports competitions. 14

Students of St. Paul’s College Kalamassery secured awards in cricket tournament. Haritha J.

secured A grade in Mohiniyattam, Bharathanatyam and other forms of Classical Dances in

the MGU Youth Festival.

X Department Fest

All the departments conducted various fests in our College.

XI Campus Placement

147 students from various departments were placed in the same year in different established

industrial and educational institutions and firms.

XII Alumni Activities

It is the alumni associations that oversee all the alumni activities of the institution, and

also provide the arena to bring them back to their alma mater. Alumni meets are usually held

by various departments where the ex-students share their industry experiences with the students

which empower them to gear up with the competitive world also they have taken the initiative

to provide suggestions concerning the functioning and infrastructure of the College. Alumni

meets are organised every year. Economics department has organised alumni meets during the

last five years.
