    This four-day post-graduate workshop aims to provide knowledge on the basicprinciples of design, assemblage and operation of life support systems formarine organisms. The correct implementation and management of thesesystems is essential to perform high quality laboratorial experimentation. Thecourse is addressed to scientists and PhD and M.Sc. students with abackground in Biology, Natural and Environmental Sciences, Animal Productionor related fields, as well as members of private and public institutionsresponsible for the husbandry of marine organisms. Participants are welcome toexpose their needs concerning life support systems for ongoing research

    studies or future work. There will be a maximum number of 20 participants forthe present workshop.

    Travel to AveiroFor those arriving at Porto Airport: Aveiro has an excellent railway service toPorto, situated 60 km North of Aveiro. Porto airport is directly connected to themajor European and some North and South American cities. Travel byunderground between Porto airport and railway station of Porto-Campanh is40 minutes. Depending on the type of train service used, travel between Porto-Campanh and Aveiro railway takes 30 to 50 minutes and costs between 2and 13. On average, there are trains every 25 minutes between Porto andAveiro. Aveiro University is 5 minutes taxi distance from the railway station, andthe taxi fare is around 5 to 7.

    For those arriving at Lisbon airport: Aveiro is also connected by train toLisbon, situated 250 km South of Aveiro. From Lisbon airport you should go toOriente railway station, by taxi (fare between 10 to 15). On average, there aretrains from Lisbon-Oriente to Aveiro every 90 minutes. Train will cost between16 to 30, and the journey between Lisbon-Oriente and Aveiro railway station

    will be around 2,5 hours.

    AccommodationSeveral accommodation options are available in the city of Aveiro, from a youthhostel, pensions and hotels. As soon as we have more information on the pricesand availability of rooms we will inform you. We can easily pre-book a numberof rooms, in a hotel within walking distance from the University with aconvenient price.
