1.0 Title:

Anaesthesiogist and Patient

2.0 Condition:

Applies to all Anesthetists, Trained Anaesthesia Nurses and Technicians.

3.0 Purpose:

3.1 The anesthesiologist is to ensure the safety and welfarefor each patient with dignity physically and psychologically.

3.2 Anaesthetists should monitor themselves and eachother to

protect the patient from abusive behavior.

4.0 Definition:

4.1 Anesthesiologist is a specialist who administers ananaesthetic to a patient before he/she is treated.

4.2 Patient is a person who requires a medical care.

5.0 Policy:

5.1 Patients interest is of foremost importance.

5.2 Respect patients right of self determination.

5.3 Maintain the confidentiality of patients personalinformation

4.4 Anaesthesiologist should provide comprehensivepreoperative, intraoperative, postoperative anesthesia

care to patient.





5.5 Anesthesiologist should remain physically andcontinuously present to direct the administration of aneasthesia to the

entrusted patient.

5.6 Anaesthesiologist and anaesthesia staff should be ableto cope with all situations and to give the best of their

skills and knowledge.

6.0 Procedure:

6.1 Anaesthesiologist and anaesthesia staff/technician shallcooperate with other medical colleaque to

improve quality of patients care and prompt professionalrespectful relationship.

6.2 Anaesthesiologist should provide timely medicalconsultation when requested and seek consultation when

appropriate.
