Symptom 

This note describes general information and limitations of the BW 7.x BEx Frontend Tools and SAP BW Precalculation Server for SAP GUI 740.

Reason and Prerequisites 

The BW 7.x Business Explorer Frontend is available with the latest SAP GUI 7.40. And it is included in the GUI 7.40 Compilation 1 PresentationDVD. The DVD also includes SAP BW Precalculation Server for GUI 740.

Solution 

Please note that, this note is constantly updated as and when a new DVD is available to customers.  

l The BW Business Explorer Frontend, is available only in one version starting with GUI 740 Compilation 1. The version 7.x of the BWBusiness Explorer Frontend is also available as standalone installation in this DVD.

l SAP BW Precalculation Server for SAP GUI 740 is available with the DVD. Activating the Precalculation Server is similar to previousversion. For more details on the installation and setup, please refer the "NW74_Precalc_Installation_740_.pdf" included in the DVD. Also,refer note 1995536 for precalculation server contents and versions.

BW 7.x Frontend Patch Level in SAPGUI 7.40 DVD 

l   The 7.x version of the BW Frontend on the DVD 1 will be the equivalent of BW Frontend 7.x Patch 701 for SAP GUI 7.30(SAP Note:1885324)

BW Frontend 7.x Standalone 

l The BW 7.x Frontend tools are also available as standalone installation. It means that you can install them without SAPGUI.

Known Limitations for BW Frontend 7.x Standalone: 

l Web Application Designer (WAD) will not work as standalone component.

SAP BW Precalculation Server in DVD 

l The new version of Precalculation server is also available with the 740 DVD1 . Please note that it is necessary to have corresponding BW7.X Frontend Patch(FEP) installed in the system for installing and using Precalculation Server.

l   The Precalculation Server included in DVD 1 is equivalent to 7.X Precalculation Server SP701 for SAP GUI 7.30(SAP Note :  1865102 )
