Key Points
During the Civil Rights movement there were many people who were involved in fighting for African American Rights.
Many of these people were murdered or assassinated because of the work they were doing.
Without the famous and less famous people African Americans and many other people would not have the equal rights they enjoy today.

He was beaten, had his eye gouged out and shot through the head and then dumped in a river
His funeral was open casket to show people the brutality
