John 3:16. This section of Scripture is the heart and core of our Christian Faith. As we enter the season of Lent we are reminded of this truth. We have celebrated Christmas. We began the new year. Now the celebrations are over. We are back to our everyday lives facing the day to day things that have to be done. We wake up not only to cold mornings but to the day to day drudgery of life. We have jobs to do, bills to pay, meals to cook. We suffer through life with the occasional cold or flu or some catastrophic illness. At times we are overwhelmed with all that needs to be done. It seems that for many people there is no time for God. Oftentimes we are just too busy or worn out to think about these God-things. Maybe we just don't think about God. Then all of the sudden we are faced with a tragedy of one sort or another. We are forced to stop and ask what is life all about. Sooner or later we have to come to terms with the meaning of human life and what it is all about. The season of Lent gives us the opportunity to stop and reflect on our lives, our God, and our relationship to Him. It gives us a chance to take a few moments each week to take stock of who I am and where I am going. I would strongly encourage you to take an extra hour out of your life to spend time contemplating these things. We will hear who God is and what He has done. We will consider how we got here and what our purpose in life is. We will hear about the devil and his evil works. We will hear how he wants to destroy my relationship with God. Then we will hear about what God has done for us in Jesus and what this means for us. Finally we will look at what our response should be to this good news. The hymnist puts it this way: "Jesus, I will ponder now..." Come and join us. May God's peace rest on all us,

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son."  John 3:16.

In my devotions this week, I came upon the following quote by an unknown author. It speaks well to us as a Christian community, whose mission it is, first to follow and then to share Jesus with others.

“God does not call the qualified. Rather, He qualifies those whom He calls, and who then respond positively as well as thankfully.Blessings,SusanIN OUR PRAYERS…..
