This is not about official membership in a church, so don’t worry if you haven’t joined Advent. The study pushes back on the whole “club membership” model of joining a church. Instead, it focuses on being a member of the Body of Christ and what it means when we choose to live out our faith together as part of a congregation. These books are on sale in the church lobbies for $5. If you are interested in joining a small group to discuss this book please contact Lynda, the Pastors’ Assistant. We already have the following confirmed small group offerings for anyone to join. Sundays: 10AM at Suntree Campus: Starting March 1 Wednesdays: 6PM at Suntree Campus: Starting March 4 Wednesdays: 7PM at Melbourne Beach Campus: Starting March 4 ASH WEDNESDAY OPPORTUNITIES Ash Wednesday (February 26) is a time to reflect on our relationship with God and a time to return to God. We will once again offer a unique Ash Wednesday experience to the community by providing a “drive-up” opportunity to receive ashes and a prayer at both campuses. Suntree Campus: 7- 9AM and 4:30 - 6:30PM. Melbourne Beach Campus 7 - 9AM. We will also have Ash Wednesday worship services at 1PM and 7PM at both campuses which include the imposition of ashes and Holy Communion. AUDREY’S CLEANING CREW One of our Confirmation Students, Audrey Baudek, is currently working on a community service project through Central Middle School for the Genesis House. Genesis House has been a part of our community for more than 40 years providing a safe and supportive environment for homeless women and their children needing emergency shelter, student mothers with children needing long term housing as they complete their education, and shelter for pregnant women. The Melbourne Beach Campus is a direct ministry partner with the Genesis House. Audrey is collecting cleaning supply donations at services February 22/23. Please consider bringing a donation such as glass, toilet bowl, all purpose, and tile/grout cleaners; dish soap; laundry detergent; anti-bacterial wipes; furniture polish; sponges or anything else to make a house a clean home. Boxes to collect donations will be in the church lobbies. WELCOME, VISITORS! We are glad you are here! Let us know how we may serve you. There are Connection Cards located in the pew pockets in front of you. Please use these Connection Cards to share/update contact information, to submit a prayer request, or if you would like a pastor to contact you. Place the Connection Card in the offering plate as it goes by. For further information on any notices you read here, please speak with one of our Pastors or check at the Welcome Center. We hope you will worship with us again! VIALS OF LIFE PROGRAM The Brevard County Fire Rescue offers a program called Vial of Life to citizens of Brevard County. When 911 is called, time is crucial. In many instances patients are unable to remember or communicate information that is critical to providing appropriate care. A “Vial of Life” speaks for them. The Vial allows individuals to have their vital medical information such as medication, medical history, allergies and emergency contact information readily available for first responders. The Vial is ideally stored on the top shelf in the refrigerator. Vials of Life will be available in the Lobby at Suntree on February 15/16 and 22/23. Stop by to pick one up and to ask any questions or contact Wendy Poffenberger. FOOD PANTRY THANK YOU, to everyone who donated to the Pantry at the Souper Bowl of Sharing! We raised $2,446.11 and collected many pounds of food. The food and cash will be a big help in our mission to feed the hungry. This week, Advent's Food Pantry served 22 families representing 77 individuals. We distributed 35 bags of food and saw 1 new family. Current needs: pasta sauce, canned pasta (macaroni and beef, spaghetti-o's, etc.) COMMUNION MINISTRY “Taste and see that the Lord is good.” The Advent Communion Minister team is available at both of our campuses to bring Holy Communion to members and friends of Advent who are not able to attend worship services. Please contact Lynda Herrman, Pastors’ Assistant 321.317.0729 or Pastor Rick Funk 321.243.2606 if you are going to be in the hospital or will be recuperating at home or at a facility.
