Re: Proposed Quarry on Woodriver Rd., Miller County

Dr. Mr. Coen,

As a resident living on Woodriver Rd, I am opposed to the permit that is beiig requested by ~agruder~~imestone Co. to begin a quarry operation on Woodriver Rd. in Miller County.

This quarry would adversely affect the residents living near the area. The noise, traffic and dust would be a nuisance as well as a health concern for anyone with breathing disorders. I am concerned that the blasting will cause foundations of our home to crack. Also, most of us have wells for our water source. The blasting could also damage these wells.

I am also concerned about the City of Lake Ozarks' sewer treatment plant. The blasting could cause damage to that. Considering how close it is to the Osage River, this could be a serious issue.

Please be advised that I am strongly opposed to a quarry site on Woodriver Rd. I am requesting a public meeting to address this issue. Please let me know when and where this meeting will take place. No one in this area even knows about the newspaper where this notice appeared. Please notify us in writing or post in the Lake Sun or Eldon Advertiser.

Thank you for your attention to the matter.

Re: Permit #0086 Magruder Limestone Co. Quany Proposal in Lake Ozark, MO

Gentlemen:

In reference to your letter from Lany P. Coen, dated June 26,2007, we request a fonnal hearing regarding the proposed quany in Lake Ozark, MO by the Magruder Limestone Company.

Our concerns for this quarry being built near our home and h our neighborhood are as follows:

1. Residential area with approximately 40 homes located on Wood River Road. 2. Safety and health of our children. There are a multitude of children lMng -

on this road as well as a drop off point for the local school busses. 3. AU of these homes have water wells which would be atTected by the blasting. 4. Possible damage to our homes and their foundation caused by the blasting. 5. Increased road trafiie caused by quarry. This M a very low maintained

gravel road and unable to snpport much activity. Dust from vehicles as well as the effects from the blasting fall out would be hazardous to our health and homes.

6. Unnecessary noise created from the blasting. 7. Decreased property values.

These points make it evident why we are strongly opposed to this quarry being built near our residential area. In addition to these concerns, it would greatly assist the Wood River Road residents to have the formal hearing held in a time and location that would be suitable for residents living in the Lake Ozark area and working during the day.

Missouri Department of Natural Resources Land Reclamation Program Attn: Lany Coen, Staff Director P.O. Box 176 Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0176

Dear Mr. Coen:

On Friday, July 6,2007, the City of Osage Beach received a copy of a lettex sent by you to Ms. Mary W. Denton indicatjng that Magruder Limestone Company, Inc., has "respectfdly declined" holding an informal public meeting. The letter went on to state that she had fifieen days fium June 26,2007 ui which to submit in wnhng a request for a hearing, and that the letter would then be presented to the Land Reclamation Commission at their September 27,2007 meeting.

Once again, neither the City of Osage Beach, nor the City of Lake Oz;nk, who jointly opcrate the Lake Ozark-Osage Beach Joint Sewa Plant, one of the largest adjoming property owners, were notified that Magruder Limestone Company had rcspectfull~ declined holding an inhrmal public hearing and that we had fifteen days in which to not% the Land Reclamation Commission of our desire to pursue such a hearing.

As we stated in our previous letter to both you and Doyle Childera, Department of Natural Resources Director, there are two major sewer lines that run through the proposed quany site. Damage to these l m a would result in a catastrophic economic impact to both cities, as well as the State of Missouri which depends heavily on the taxes paid by tourists every year. It is evident that the "livelihood" ofbotb cities would be unduly impaired should this permit be issued and Magruder allowed to blast in this area

Accordingly, please consider this letter as our otftcial request to hold a public hearing for the benefit of all concerned.

Sincerely,

eskos, City of Lake Ozark

Several years ago there was a quany trying to be put on this road about 112 mile north of this proposed property and it was stopped. Now someone is trying to do this one in the middle of a bunch of HOMES. This is not right.

Some of our concerns about this quarry being built near our homes and the businesses on this road are as follows:

After returning home fi-om vacation today, we found your letter regarding The Magruder Limestone Company's permit application and their denial to hold a public meeting regarding their intentions.

You asked that we request a hearing, in writing, to explain or concerns over this request and with this letter, we are thus doing that. We are definitely opposed to this project being located close to our home as it will have ill effects on Jack's health, due to his lung problems and well as my chronic sinus condition, which I have surgery for. We also have concerns regarding our property values and many other concerns.

Please regard this letter as our intention to pursue whatever is necessary to voice our concerns. We will await information from you, in the future, on what is to take place regarding our issues.

Gentlemen:

In reference to your letter from Larry P. Coen, dated June 26,2007, we request a formal hearing regarding the proposed quany in Lake Ozark, MO by the Magruder Limestone Company.

Our concerns for this quarry b e i i built near our home and in oar neighborhood are as follows:

1. Residential area with approximately 40 homes located on Wood River Road. 2. Safety and health of our children. There are a multitude of children living

on this road as well as a drop off point for the local school busses 3. All of these homes have water wells which would be affected by the blasting. 4. Possible damage to our homes and their fo1111dation caused by the blasting. 5. Increased road traffic caused by quarry. This is a very low maintaiued

gravel road and unable to support much activity. Dust from vehicles as well as the effects from the blasting fall out would be hazardous to our health and homes.

6. Unnecessary noise created from the blasting. 7. Decreased property values.

These points make it evident why we are strongly opposed to this quarry being built near our residential area. In addition to these concerns, it would greatly assist the Wood River Road r e ~ i d e n ~ ~ ~ t i m e ~ ~ f i o n ~
