Regarding PRES’ Security System
When visiting the school, all visitors will need come into the vestibule and press the CALL button located on the far right wall of the main entrance. Please press the CALL button; state your name and purpose for visiting and once we verify we will unlock the door for you to enter the building. Proceed to the front office to sign in and receive a nametag. Please be prepared to show a photo ID if asked. When collecting your child for early dismissal please allow a few extra minutes to accommodate for this process.
Policy Reminder: When a child is late to school, an adult must sign them in at the front office (failure to do so is not only a safety concern for young children, but will also result in the child's tardiness being coded as an unexcused absence). We ask that the adult sign the student in, please - not the child.
Principal’s Pointers: Wow, it’s hard to believe that we’re coming to the end of another school year. I would like to thank the parents, students and staff of PRES for helping to make my first year as your principal successful and fun filled! I truly appreciate the collaborative relationship that exists between staff and parents. We are only our best when we work together. Many parents have requested resources that they can use with your children over the summer to help keep them engaged and ready for learning. Here are some online resources, suggested by the HCPSS Elementary Curriculum Office to help “Students Stay Sharp” in the Summer Time: • Mathematics Resources: Elementary mathematics resources, websites, and activities for students in kindergarten through fifth grade are available at the following site: http://smart.wikispaces.hcpss.org • Language Arts Resources: The Elementary Language Arts Parent Support Website is found at the following site: http://elaparentsupport.weebly.com/ (Also linked to www.hcpss.org.) The Elementary Language Arts Office has compiled a wealth of resources for parents that complement the instruction that takes place in the classrooms. This site contains information about the Common Core, includes overviews of what students will learn in each grade, and activities and technology links to support student learning. Research strongly reports the benefits of wide reading and writing to promote literacy growth. In addition to exploring the materials listed on this site, parents are encouraged to provide opportunities for students to read and write regularly throughout the summer. • Science Resources: Elementary science resources, websites, and activities for students in kindergarten through fifth grade are available at the following site: http://www.hcpss.org/academics/science_elem.shtml
• Social Studies Resources: Elementary social studies resources, websites, and activities for students in kindergarten through fifth grade are available at the following site: http://www.hcpss.org/academics/socialstudies_elem.shtml Again, thank you for a wonderful school year. I wish everyone a summer filled with fun and relaxation. See you all in August! Lenore Schiff IMPORTANT NOTICE: When your child is absent, please email the child’s teacher to let them know (email addresses can be found on our school website) with a cc: to [email protected] . This will count as your absence note but you must include the reason for the absence. No other note will be necessary if you do this. Otherwise you must send an absence note within two days for the absence reason to be adjusted. The PRES website (www2.hcpss.org/pres) will link you to each staff member’s email address (the best method of communication) and webpage (if available). Just click on the staff member’s name under their team to go directly to their email. Please use this as your first line of communication when time is not of the essence. Please keep in mind that when the office staff takes a phone message, it is e-‐mailed to the staff member.

Regarding the Staying Sharp in the Summertime Packets: The Elementary Curriculum Office will no longer be printing the Staying Sharp in the Summertime summer packets that usually go home with students in June. Instead, please share the below information in the newsletters to your families during your May and June issues. The up-to-date aligned resources identified below provide more activities and useful parent information than was available in the old summer packets. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you choose to send your own school booklet created by your PTA or staff, review the attached circular relating to copyright laws. Please be sure to adhere to these parameters. In addition, please note that if your PTA produces a booklet and wants to use the Print Shop, they will have to supply the paper and include it with the submission. School or PTA sponsored booklets are subjected to the Print Shop guidelines. Principal signatures will be required on the requests. Booklet requests will need to be sent to the Print Shop by May 1 to go home with students in June. HCPSS Offers Point of Sale System in Cafeterias The HCPSS Food and Nutrition Service Office has implemented a new Point of Sale (POS) System. With it, parents have the option of funding an online account, from which students can draw funds to obtain breakfast, lunch and/or a la carte foods at school. Families newly registered, will receive a letter via US mail containing their student's unique personal identification number (PIN). All students, paid, free, reduced price and pre-paid MUST use the pin number to purchase anything from the school cafeteria. Instructions on how to access the payment website before their school goes live are included in the letter. It is very important that each student memorize his or her pin number to access his or her account and to expedite the serving line. However, cashiers will be able to look students up by name if they forget. Students always will have the option to pay with cash. Parents who would like to put money on their student's account will process payments online at schoolpaymentsolutions.com via Visa, MasterCard or online check. Students may also give cash to a school cashier to apply to their account. Students currently on a prepaid annual or prepaid installment plan will automatically have the remaining funds transferred into their account. Get involved next year at Lime Kiln Middle School.
