Ofcom has wide-ranging powers across the television, radio, telecoms and postal sectors.

It has a statutory duty to represent the interests of citizens and consumers by promoting competition and protecting the public from what might be considered harmful or offensive material.

Ofcom was originally created in December in the year 2003. they formally inheriting the duties that had previously been the responsibility of five different regulators.

Is the self-regulatory organization (SRO) of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom.

The ASA is a non-statutory organization and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation.

Last year ASA dealt with 31,298 complaints and thoroughly assessed every one of those concerns and investigated ads that seemed to breach the rules.

Pan European Game Information (PEGI) is a European video game content rating system established to help European consumers make informed decisions on buying computer games with logos on games' boxes.

Without PEGI children could be buying games not suitable for there age.

classification and censorship of films within the United Kingdom. They have a statutory requirement to classify videos, DVDs and some video

games under the Video Recordings Act 2010.
