Colour Maximite – II The Colour Maximite-II (CMM2) is a joint effort project lead by Geoff Graham and Peter Mather with a dedicated team of assistants and testers. NB. I was not involved in the design process, and I wish to ensure that all credit for the design and testing of CMM2 should be attributed to those involved and not to me. The full release details for the CMM2 can be viewed on `The Back Shed Forum’ located here: http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?FID=16&TID=12105 There are several versions of CMM2, these are all essentially the same and all have the same features and electronics. The version I am offering is the Version 1.5, commonly called the All-In-One CMM2. This design does not need a Waveshare plug in daughter board to operate, as the STM32H743IIT6 (Core ARM Processor) and IS42S16400J (DRAM chip) are soldered onto the CMM2 board itself (hence All-In-One). NOTE! This Document is NOT to be confused with an extensive manual on the Colour Maximite II, its purpose is to purely and simply describe what I am offering in the way of CMM2 products. For extensive documentation please go to “The Back Shed Forum” link as above and also refer to Geoff’s site on all things Maximite. http://geoffg.net/ I will be offering several options for the CMM2, Please consult my current price list located here: https://www.dontronics.com/micks-mite/files/15%20Colour%20Maximite%20II/Colour%20Maximite%20PRICE%20LIST.txt All of my files associated with the Colour Maximite II can be found here: https://www.dontronics.com/micks-mite/files/15%20Colour%20Maximite%20II/

Colour Maximite – II

The Colour Maximite-II (CMM2) is a joint effort project lead by Geoff Graham and Peter Mather with a dedicated team of assistants and testers.

NB. I was not involved in the design process, and I wish to ensure that all credit for the design and testing of CMM2 should be attributed to those involved and not to me.

The full release details for the CMM2 can be viewed on `The Back Shed Forum’ located here:

http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?FID=16&TID=12105

There are several versions of CMM2, these are all essentially the same and all have the same features and electronics.

I will be offering several options for the CMM2, Please consult my current price list located here:

All of my files associated with the Colour Maximite II can be found here:

Currently I am offering the following OPTIONS:

1. BARE PCB (No other included components)

IMPORTANT NOTE!! This is almost entirely based on SMD components and is NOT easy to Hand Solder unless you are experienced with SMD work. There are also components mounted on BOTH sides of the board.

2. Fully Built and Tested PCB (No Case) Note! I will include 2 x 3mm (RED and Green) LEDs and the Ir Receiver loose as these are best soldered from the top after the board is screwed into place to align with the front panel holes.

3. Fully Built and housed in its own case – Two choices of panel type a) Colour `photo’ panels, As shown (The `photo labels’ will be affixed to the B&W, pre-cut panels).

or b) B&W PCB panels (see below in Option 4 below, also note currently the rear panel is GREEN)

4. Front and Rear Panels made on 1.2mm PCB material (Black and White only) Not available until they arrive in mid-late July

The panels are made from 1.2mm PCB material to allow for the option of adding the colour panels if so desired, the colour panels are actually colour photos that I get made at the local (Officeworks) photo outlet. These are then stuck to the Front or Rear panel using thin double sided tape. As of time of writing, the front and rear PCB panels are yet to arrive so currently the panels need to be hand cut from 1mm-1.2mm acrylic sheet and the photo panels cut and affixed as shown in the above picture. (They actually look a bit better than the photo above shows). This is what the PCB B&W panels `should’ look like.

Edit 16-July-2020

The Panels have arrived from manufacture and I found I made a mistake and ordered GREEN Rear panels instead of black, however, I think I actually like the look of the green panel instead of the black. In any case the panels are available currently in Black front and Green Rear, I will include a set of `photo fascia labels’ as described above in case you prefer to add those over the pre-cut panels. As a consequence of these looking so good I am now going to adopt these as the default panels on CMM2 built by me and, unless requested, will not attach the `photo labels’ (but I will include the photos separately).

Actual scans shown below:

These pictures show the Pre-Cut panels and this is how I will be shipping pre-built units from now on.

However, if requested I will still attach the photos before shipping.

All of my artwork is provided in the Colour Maximite-II directory.

There are several `ART’ files there as follows:

“Back 150mm MASTER.png”, “Front 150mm MASTER.png” and “TEMPLATES MASTER.png”

These are sized to suit Officeworks self-service photo machines, (select 4x6” or 100x150mm), they are NOT actual size when viewed or printed on a standard printer. It took a few experiments to get the size printed correctly on their machines as they enlarge the photo from the artwork size. If you get them printed the panel should come out at 134mm x 30mm, I have the border so the machine doesn’t try to zoom to the actual image we want. If you need to adjust to suit your photo-store then adjust just the panel area itself using photo editing software. I will provide a front and rear photo (3 up layout) with any purchase of panels or cases to be used as spares if necessary.

Using a commercial photo store to create the image has the advantage (well at least over my ink jet printer) of not only being water resistant (to a certain extent), it also produces an appealing glossy print with a slightly matt finish. Oh, and they only cost 10c per print.

I have also provided in the Colour Maximite-II Directory, single EXACT size images if you wish to create your own.

“FRONT single EXACT size.png” and “Back single EXACT size.png”

All of my prices can be found in the file named “Colour Maximite PRICE LIST.TXT” located in the Colour Maximite-II Directory here:

CREDITS Special Thanks must go to the following people:

Geoff Graham for creating the wonderful MicroMite family in the first place.

Peter Mather who has picked up the gauntlet from Geoff and created Cmm2 and for his tireless efforts with all things `mite.

Glenn Littleford (aka Gizmo) for his tireless maintenance and support of ‘The Back Shed’ Forum without which I doubt the Maximite and MicroMite would ever have flourished in the first place.

Don McKenzie who not only hosts my site for manuals and other support files but for grabbing me by the ear all those many years ago (in the TANDY model 1 days) and teaching me the wonderful world of digital electronics and even though Dontronics has now sadly closed, he is always there to offer his 150 years of wisdom to a little “whipper snapper” like me.

Lastly, to my wife, Sue, who tirelessly puts up with me being glued to my computer screen and spending our life’s savings on these silly little pieces of fibreglass.
