EFFORT
EFFORT Definition: the use of energy to do something
EAR recipients will display a high amount of effort in their daily work.
High effort usually translates to good grades, and success in meeting your goals.
ATTITUDE
ATTITUDE Definition: a manner showing one’s feelings,
thoughts or mood. One’s disposition.
EAR students will display a positive attitude in their daily interactions with teachers, family, adults, fellow students and friends.
An EAR student is usually willing to take on new challenges and react positively to any upcoming obstacles.
RESPECT
RESPECT Definition: to show honor or esteem for. To
show consideration for.
An EAR student displays a high level of respect for their fellow students, teachers, all adults and especially family members.
An EAR student also has respect for one’s property and privacy.
REFERRALS
The West Mifflin Middle School staff can award EAR Referrals to students who consistently demonstrate the EAR qualities both in and out of the classroom.
Referrals can also be earned through community service.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
Every FOUR hours will earn ONE EAR referral. Community service hours must be collected
during the school year. Summer hours do not count towards a referral.
Official WMAMS Community Service document must be signed.
Examples: Working with a church, youth group, Habitat for Humanity, humane society, food bank, nursing home, hospital, volunteer tutoring, community organization, etc.
REFERRAL AWARDS
Two or More Referrals: Donut Breakfast before school
Three or More Referrals: Cooked Breakfast before school
Four or Referrals: Eligible for special trips/privileges
Example: 2010-Penguin Practice at Consol Center
Example: 2010-Special Seating at Tino Coury Concert
Five or More Referrals: School Board Recognition and Certificate
