for a perfect pool
Water balance is essential forachieving perfect transparency and
disinfection, as well as forpreserving our health.
Algaecides prevent the appearance of greenstains and slippery deposits on the walls, steps
and bottoms of pools.
CTX has a wide range of products designed tosolve any problems that may arise in a pool
so that it is always in perfect condition.
As water is an increasingly scarce and valuedasset, the time has come to think about usingproducts that make it possible to keep it until
the start of the next season. It’s cheap and easy.
It is quick and easy to havetransparent and crystalline water at alltimes using flocculants, which remove
all particles in suspension that thefilter is unable to retain.
Although water may look clean, it contains micro-organisms and pathogens that mustbe removed through proper disinfection.
Multi-action products are effective disinfectants and flocculants, whilstpreventing the formation of algae.
What’s more, they reduce the rapidevaporation of the disinfectant due
to UV radiation.

CTX-10 pH- pH reducer. A basic stepbefore applying anytreatments to yourpool. A disinfectant willnot work if the pH levelis not between 7.2 and7.6. The signs of a highpH level are cloudywater, irritated mucousm e m b r a n e s ,deterioration of theskin’s protective layerand the formation oflime scale.
CTX-20 pH+ Depending on whereyou live, you may haveto increase the pH levelof your pool water. Alow pH level in watercan give rise to irritatedmucous membranes, metal corrosion, deterioration of thepool’s shell, and anexcessive andunnecessary use ofdisinfectants.
CTX-41 Flocculant CTX-42 Flocculant Even if you use adisinfectant, someparticles that float inthe water are so smallthat filters are unableto remove them. Flocculants cause themto form a mass so thatthey can be trapped bythe filters. The resultwill be crystallinewater.
CTX-200/GR ClorShockDichlorine, fast-actingor shock chlorine. It isused to recover thestate of water if youhave neglected to treatit, or after a largenumber of swimmershave been in it or aftera storm. It’s a good idea toalways have some closeat hand to deal with anyemergency that mayarise.
CTX offers you a rangeof products designed tosolve every particularproblem that you arelikely to encounter inyour pool. Ask your localdealer. There they willtell you the best solutionto any problems you mayencounter.
However, certain productsshould always be closeat hand because theyare essential for thechemical maintenanceof pool water.
We call them:THE ESSENTIALS.

Filtration and disinfection of water Professional

The physical treatment of a pool is just as important as the chemical treatment of water. In order for any disinfectant toperform effectively, the water should have optimum filtering conditions.
FilterAir, swimmers and the environment bring impurities into the water, which causes cloudiness and turns into food for bacteria and algae. They should therefore be removed with the help of filteringequipment. The filter retains particles of dirt, thus keeping watertransparent and crystalline. It is important to ensure that the filteris in working good conditions and that the full volume of water isfiltered at least once a day.
ChlorineIn any event, even if the water is clear and transparent, it willcontain micro-organisms that must be removed through properdisinfection. Part of the chlorine that is added is consumed indestroying contaminants. The remainder stays in the water asresidual chlorine in preparation to act against any new contaminantsintroduced by the wind, swimmers, etc. This residual part of thedisinfectant is called free residual chlorine. To ensure the properdisinfection of pool water, free residual chlorine levels must bekept at between 1 and 2 ppm.
The consumption of chlorine varies with temperature, the amountof sunlight, the number of swimmers and pollution. The level ofchlorine must therefore be measured every day with the help ofa chlorine and pH test kit.
Pool set-upProfessional

Check that your pool equipment (pump, filter, etc.) is working properly.
Empty the pool if necessary and clean the shell using the CTX-51 extra strong de-scaler.
The cleaning of the shell should be performed when there is little sunlight, and the pool
walls and bottom kept humid. Apply the CTX-51 extra strong de-scaler. Then let the product
act for half an hour and rinse with water.
Fill the pool once the shell is clean.
Test the Ph level of the water and if necessary adjust it to between 7.2 and 7.6 using the
CTX-10 pH- pH reducer or the CTX-20 pH+ pH enhancer.
Perform a chlorine shock treatment using CTX-200GR ClorShock granules (15 gr per m3 of
water) or fast-action CTX-250 ClorShock 20 gr tablets (1 or 2 tablets per m3 of water.
If it takes more than a day to fill your pool, it is recommended to stagger the dose of the
CTX-200GR ClorShock granules or the CTX-250 ClorShock tablets during the
operation.
Adjust pH and chlorine and start the maintenance programme.

The pH indicates the acidity or alkalinity of water. In a pool, levels should be kept at values of between 7.2 and 7.6.This pH range keeps a pool in optimum conditions, as well as being ideal for swimmers’ skin and eyes.
To keep the water between these two values, test the pH level daily using a chlorine and pH test kit. If thepH is above 7.6, add the CTX-10 pH- pH reducer to the water; if it is below 7.2, add the CTX-20 pH+ pH enhancer.
Algae prevention
Algae are unicellular plant organisms that can develop and multiply very quickly in
water, particularly at warm temperatures. Algae spores are carried into pool water
by the wind, rain, etc.
To prevent their development, an algaecide such as CTX-500/s AlgaStop Super or
CTX-530 AlgaStop Ultra should be used in addition to a disinfectant. A dose of 1/4
of a litre per 100 m3 of water should be added directly to the pool.

Pool maintenance programme Professional
Test the water’s pH and adjustit to between 7.2 and 7.6 usingCTX-10 pH- or CTX-20 pH+ ifnecessary.
Test the level of free residualchlorine. It should be kept atbetween 1 and 2 ppm. If youuse a dispenser, set it to ensurethis level of free residualchlorine is maintained.
Clear the water of leaves and
insects.

IT IS IMPORTANT TO REPEAT ALL OF THESE STEPS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WINTER SEASON
Winter care treatmentProfessional
11
When the water temperature isbelow 15ºC, adjust the pH tobetween 7.2 and 7.6 using CTX-10 pH- pH reducer or CTX-20pH+ pH enhancer and perform achlorine shock treatment usingCTX-200GR ClorShock (15 grper m3 of water).
Leave the filter running and thenext day add the winteriser CTX-550 WinterStar or CTX-551WinterStar Liner if you have afibreglass, liner or polyesterpool (5 litres per 100 m3 ofwater). This procedurestabilises the water to preventalgae from growing and insectsfrom hatching.
Test the water pH level. If it isnot between 7.2 and 7.6,correct it using the CTX-10 pH-pH reducer or the CTX-20 pH+pH enhancer and leave the filteron for 8 hours to ensure an evendistribution of the product inthe water.
Clean the filter using the CTX-55de-scaler. Remember tothoroughly backwash and rinsethe filter after you have cleanedit and cover your pool with apool cover.

What do I do if the water is not crystalline?Professional
12
In order to ensure your water is crystalline and disinfected, we recommend the following treatment.
Place 15 gr of CTX-200GR ClorShock granules, or 1 or 2 tables ofCTX-250 ClorShock 20 gr for each 10 m3 of water in your skimmeror dispenser. To enhance chlorination, dilute 1 litre for every 100m3
of water of CTX-500/s AlgaStop Super or CTX-530 AlgaStop Ultrain a recipient and pour it evenly over the surface of the pool.
Once a week after the initial treatment, place 1 tablet of trichlorine
CTX-370 ClorLent 200 gr in the skimmer or floating dispenser for
every 20 m3 of water. It will dissolve slowly to give continued
disinfection. Then directly pour ¼ litre of CTX-500/s AlgaStop
Super or CTX-530 AlgaStop Ultra into your pool for every 100m3 of
water.
This treatment means you can forget about disinfection and ensures
your pool has residual chlorine 24 hours a day.
