L a chirurgia dell’aorta mantiene e rinnova un enorme interesse

sia da parte dei Chirurghi Vascolari che dei Cardiochirurghi,

con aree di competenza specifica e aree in cui è invece l’approccio

interdisciplinare a consentire i migliori risultati. Negli ultimissimi

anni poi, l’avvento delle metodiche endovascolari sta modificando

radicalmente l’approccio a numerose patologie aortiche tanto a

livello addominale che toracico.

Il Congresso “Chirurgia Aortica – How to do it” si propone

innanzitutto come luogo di incontro fra esperti dei diversi segmenti

chirurgici dell’aorta e delle diverse metodiche. In particolare la

chirurgia dell’aorta ascendente, dell’arco aortico, dell’aorta

discendente, toraco-addominale e addominale. Saranno prese in

considerazione le problematiche legate sia agli interventi elettivi sia

a quelli in emergenza.

La formula scelta per il Congresso è quella di contributi filmati

che permetteranno ai relatori, provenienti da nove Paesi, di

dimostrare nel modo più diretto e immediato le peculiarità tecniche

degli interventi di cui hanno maggiore esperienza e per i quali hanno

indiscutibile fama. A loro va il nostro caloroso ringraziamento per

aver accettato di condividere con noi il loro lavoro. Come è ormai

tradizione nei convegni organizzati al San Raffaele, ampio spazio

sarà attribuito alla discussione e allo scambio di idee.

E’ quindi con grandissimo piacere che La invitiamo al

Congresso “Chirurgia Aortica – How to do it” che si terrà il 17 e

18 dicembre 2004 presso l’Istituto Scientifico Universitario San

Raffaele di Milano, con la speranza di offrirLe una valida occasione

di arricchimento culturale.

A ortic surgery continues to fascinate both vascular and

cardiac surgeons alike, whether confined to specific fields

or those where the interdisciplinary approach produces the best

results. In recent times the advent of endovascular methods has

radically modified the approach to numerous aortic pathologies

concerning both the abdomen and the thorax.

The congress “Aortic Surgery – How to do it” first of all aims

to bring together experts from all areas of aortic surgery. We will

focus on the surgical techniques regarding the ascending aorta,

the aortic arch, the descending aorta, the thoracoabdominal and

abdominal aorta. We will be examining the problems stemming

from both elective and emergency procedures.

The formula selected for the Congress is that of filmed

contributions allowing the speakers, from nine different

Countries, to point out the technical peculiarities of those

procedures where they have had the most experience. We take

this opportunity to thank each and every one of them for having

agreed to share their experiences with us. Following the tradition

of the congresses organized by San Raffaele, much time will be

dedicated to discussion and exchange of ideas.

It is therefore with great pleasure that we hereby invite you

to the Congress “Aortic Surgery – How to do it” to be held on

the 17th and 18th of December, 2004 at the San Raffaele

University Hospital and Research Institute in Milano. We hope to

be able to provide you with a valid opportunity to improve your

Premio Internazionale di Chirurgia Vascolare San RaffaeleIn collaborazione con SORIN GROUP

• Lo spirito del Premio è quello di valorizzare il giovane autore di unprogetto innovativo ed eccellente nel campo della ricerca di base edelle nuove metodiche di trattamento nella patologia aortica,offrendo al tempo stesso a studiosi e ricercatori di tutto il mondo ilmezzo per promuovere e divulgare i risultati del proprio lavoro nelcontesto di un prestigioso congresso internazionale.

• Il Premio è aperto ai laureati in Medicina e Chirurgia di ogninazionalità, che non abbiano superato il 35° anno di età.

• Il Premio consiste in un contributo di € 10.000,00= offerto alvincitore da SORIN GROUP, che verrà consegnato in occasione dellacerimonia di chiusura del congresso.

• I lavori saranno valutati sulla base di originalità, rilevanza scientifica epotenziali ricadute cliniche da un Comitato Scientifico, il cui giudiziosarà da ritenersi inappellabile.

• Il Comitato selezionerà i 20 migliori lavori, agli autori dei quali saràrichiesto di presentare un poster in occasione del congresso. Fra essisarà scelto il vincitore del Premio. La Segreteria Organizzativacomunicherà agli autori la valutazione positiva del lavoro entro il 30 novembre 2004.

MODALITÀ DI PARTECIPAZIONE• Tutti coloro che sono interessati a partecipare, dovranno inviare un

abstract, inerente alla ricerca di base e alle nuove metodiche ditrattamento nella patologia aortica, redatto in lingua inglese e noneccedente le 400 parole; figure e tabelle sono ammesse a patto chel’abstract non ecceda comunque una pagina in formato A4.

• I lavori dovranno essere spediti alla Segreteria Organizzativa, entro il30 settembre 2004, a mezzo posta elettronica, unitamente aun’autocertificazione riportante la data di nascita e la dichiarazione per

il trattamento dei dati personali, ai sensi dell’art.10 della legge31/12/96 n.675. Si prega inoltre di riportare in calce i recapiti telefonici e di fax perpermettere un più rapido contatto in caso di necessità.Non saranno accettati gli abstract inviati via fax.

• L’autore che presenterà il lavoro dovrà perfezionare la sua iscrizioneprima dell’inizio del congresso.

San Raffaele International Award for Vascular Surgery With the sponsorship of SORIN GROUP

• The aim of this Award is to give merit to the young author of aninnovative and first-rate project in the field of basic research and newtreatment methods for aortic pathologies. Researchers from all overthe world will thus be given the opportunity to divulge their projectresults in the setting of an international congress.

• Medical School graduates of all nationalities, up to the age of 35, areeligible for the Award.

• The Award of € 10.000,00= is offered to the winner by SORIN GROUP.It will be presented during the closing ceremony of the congress.

• The projects will be evaluated by a Scientific Committee on the basisof originality, scientific relevance and potential clinical applications.The decisions of the Committee are final.

• The Committee will select the 20 best abstracts. The authors will beasked to present a poster at the congress. The winner will be chosenfrom the 20 best projects. The Organising Secretariat will confirm the acceptance of the workby November 30, 2004.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE • All those interested in taking part, should submit an abstract on the

designated topic, in English, of no more than 400 words. Figures andtables are permitted as long as the abstract does not exceed onepage of A4 format.

• Abstracts must be sent by e-mail to the Organising Secretariat by September 30, 2004, together with a declaration containingyour date of birth and the authorization to treat your personal data,according to Italian Law n. 675/96 on privacy protection. Moreover,

telephone and fax numbers are requested to allow quick contacts.Abstracts submitted by fax will not be accepted.

• The presenting author of an accepted project must register beforethe beginnig of the congress.
