METHODOLOGY AND THEORY OF LEGAL PSYCHOLOGY

PSYCHODYNAMIC DOCTRINES OF LATE ANTIQUITY IN PSYCHOLOGY AND PHILOSOPHY

Abstract. Analysis of psychodynamic content of philosophical though in late antiquity is presented in the article. That was a time of conversion of philosophy to Christian methodological grounds. That is why sufficient attention in the article is paid to personality and activity of St. Augustine Blessed – the founder of Christian philosophy. Attention to philosophy of skepticism and stoicism is paid as well. Skep-ticism as philosophical school contributed greatly to development of psychodynamic thought. In this respect antique skepticism had advantages over subsequent skepti-cism because it was more profound in nature. According to Hegel, antique skeptics were searching for the truth and their philosophy was aimed against rational thinking.

According to stoics’ philosophy the soul is the centre and bearer of cognition. It is understand as something corporal, material. Sometimes it is designated as pneuma (connection of air and fire). Its central part in which ability for thinking and everything that in present-day words can be defined as mental activity is called reason (hegemonic) by stoics. Reason connects a man with the whole world. Indi-vidual reason is a part of world’s reason. Though stoics consider feelings as a basis of cognition they paid great attention to the problem of thinking as well. Early stoics in their ideas on being assumed that world’s body was formed of fire, air, earth and water. Fiery and aerial pnuema is the soul of the world. All being was considered as different degrees of tension of divine-material the first fire.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL THREATS FOR SECURITY OF RUSSIA AND PROBLEMS OF CYBERSOCIALIZATION

Abstract. The authors examine the problem of person’s socialization un-der the influence of process of digital technologies’ development, on the one hand, and the existence of internal and external threats for social securi-ty of Russia, on the other. Ability to confront the threats that are caused by “internetization” and “cybersocialization” in the 21-th century in the dynamic challenges of social realities is considered. The authors present their under-standing of the measures that can be undertaken nowadays to oppose to the ideas of extremism and terrorism that are disseminated by means of cyber technologies.

ACTUAL PROBLEMS OF METHODOLOGY OF CONVICTS’ PSYCHOTHERAPY N. S. Oboturovа, А. M. Chirkov

Abstract. The article is devoted to theoretical grounding of necessity to de-velop methodology of psychotherapy for convicted persons in prisons. Principles of psychotherapy methodological grounds are developed in the context of philosophy and other human sciences. Different philosophical approaches to the phenomenon of spirituality as well as significance of theoretical achievements of present-day philosophical though for penal methodology are considered. The fact that spiritual development of subjective reality of the convicts is a necessary basis for success-fulness of their psycho correction and socialization is the most significant for penal specialists in practical terms.

It is shown that spiritual deficiency as a generalized characteristic of the convicts is a system-creating factor for man’s mental sphere and limits stress development while convicts’ spiritual poverty triggers the development of psychopathology of so-ciogenic nature. The importance of shift of paradigm of postnonclassical psychology in the synthesis with traditional analysis of subject’s inner world is revealed. The results of philosophical and natural sciences researches in the sphere of man’s spiritual world – his spirituality and views that reveal the essence and relationship of spirituality with the problems of cognition and consciousness and unconsciousness – are presented. It is suggested to unite the variety of approaches to spirituality into two – external and internal. Possibilities of rethinking of phenomena of spirituality and consciousness on the basis of acceptance and further development of tradi-

tional philosophical paradigms are examined. The importance of development of methodological basis for convicts’ psychotherapy and necessity of transformation of indispensable trials (stress) in captivity in the process of spiritual development in order to increase convicts’ vitality is grounded.

Topicality of meta-theoretical analysis of category of spirituality that makes it possible to realize the development of meta-psychological tools for analysis and regulation of the basic processes of man’s vitality is stressed. The significance of accounting of achievements and principles of present-day philosophy that are based on the synthesis of its paradigms with other fields of science and harmonization with religious views at the nature and man’s goal-setting is revealed. The latter will make it possible to adopt new poly-paradigm approach in science and maintain new principles of hypothesis’ setting.

PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION OF STUDENTS IN SPECIALIZED EDUCATIONAL GROUPS

Abstract. The results of empiric research indicate that being for a certain period (about a year) in a structure of closed military collective not only does not result in personal deformation but facilitates the repertoire of personal manifestations. The problem of psychological adaptation implies more precise definition of factors associated with the specific character of environment. Closed educational groups have particular traits that must be considered when planning empiric research. Such aspects as structure of interrelations, system of dominance-submission, narrow social field of interaction and role repertoire will very likely impact on psychological adaptation of students. Military unit are characterized by the components that correspond to specific character of closed communities and learning in educational groups in preparation of recruits will have consequences

that are typical for the similar groups of residential institutions as well as for penal institutions.

INFLUENCE OF PRISON SUBCULTURE ON INDIVIDUALITY OF CONVICTED YOUTHS

Abstract. All-round spreading of prison subculture is expressed not only in spreading of prison’s slang and aesthetics but in dissemination of ideology of prison sub-culture which is based on the culture of violence and violation of humanistic values. Familiarization with prison sub-culture not only lowers the level of general culture of a young man but distorts his/her ideas about moral and morality, heightens the risk of accustoming to criminal world and committing of another offence. The study of influence of prison sub-culture on individuality of convicted youths makes it possible to develop measures for prevention of spreading sub-culture and correct consequences of accustoming to prison sub-culture.

ON THE EXPERIENCE OF SHORT-TERM CORRECTION OF BORDERLINE MENTAL STATES OF THE CONVICTS IN PLACES OF DETENTION

Abstract. Nowadays the correction of borderline mental states of the convicts is extremely topical because mood, feelings, psychological climate and sometimes operational situations in correctional institutions depend on well-timed work of penal psychologist. Correction of borderline mental states is especially important because places of detention contribute to manifestation and sharpening of person’s negative traits and negative mental states. Moreover, a considerable number of the convicts have mental abnormalities and that’s why they are in need of qualified psychological help.

On the basis of penal institution in Ulyanovsk region the technology of short-term correction of borderline mental states of the convicts at the initial stage of serving sentence which is characterized by the heightened stress load, high level of tension, psychological disadaptation has been tested. The given factors have a negative impact on mental state of a convicted person. That is why in case of such states appearance, it is important to render psychological support as quickly as possible.

Psycho correctional work with the participants according to the procedure of Short-term associative experiment and Meditative picture test was conducted. It has been revealed that short-term correction favors transfer from borderline state to a normal one, changes mechanisms of psychological defenses, leads to harmonization of types of psychological defenses and increases social adaptation of the convicts.

INDIVIDUAL-TYPOLOGICAL MECHANISMS OF AGGRESSIVE-VIOLENT BEHAVIOR IN NORMA AND MENTAL PATHOLOGY

Abstract. The results of empirical study of the role of individual-typological peculiarities in realization of criminal aggression in mentally health and mentally sick persons are presented in the article. The results of 90 people who had committed aggressive-violent socially dangerous acts (SDA) are used; 27 of them are mentally health and 63 – mentally sick. A set of methods was used including: Grasmick scale, Eysenck Personality Questionnaire, Carver and White’s scale, Buss–Perry Aggression questionnaire, questionnaire of formal-dynamic traits by V.M. Rusalov and Spielberger-Hanin’s Test Anxiety Inventory.

Universal individual-typological mechanisms of criminal aggression subject to presence or absence of mental pathology have been revealed by means of factor analysis. They include: violation of communicative activity in combination with low sensitivity to danger, high hostility and difficulties in holding the affect of irritation; high activation with risk-taking; high emotional reactivity; preference for simple tasks. Mechanisms of conducting of aggressive delicts in mentally health persons are: high activation, directed at enjoying in combination with inclination to physical aggression; low rate of intellectual and communicative activity; combination of irritability and anxiety in communication with other people; psychoticism. For mentally sick persons mechanisms of aggressive-violent SDA include; low rate of intellectual and communicative activity; high activation; perception of wide range of stimuli as dangerous; malfunction of self-control with risk-taking. The hypothesis that individual-typological and individual-psychological peculiarities form peculiar structure of personality’s traits that defines tendency towards committing of aggressive delicts in mentally health and mentally sick people has been confirmed.

Abstract. The experience of realization of psycho correctional program preventing spreading of criminal subculture among convicted juveniles in young offenders’ institution is presented in the article. Adherence to criminal subculture as a way of social identification that facilitates the inclusion of under aged in social micro group is analyzed. The way of prevention of spreading of criminal subculture via declining the necessity of identification with the concrete micro group, formation of stable Self-conception as well as acceptance of the fact of existence of other opinions and behavioral strategies that are to some extent are true along with the own opinion is considered. Intermediate results of program realization are analyzed, with general

decrease in aggressiveness (negative and positive), increase in neuropsychic stability, decrease in the level of neurotization, decrease in affectedness, tendency to follow the norms and rules of penal institution among them. Leveling of factors that correlate with high level of exposure to criminal subculture such as exposure to influence of significant other or group and high level of emotional tension are registered. The attention is focused on formation of stable acceptance of own personality capable of holding own opinion and accept (be tolerant) the opinion of the others.

INTELLECTUAL AND PERSONAL POTENTIAL OF FUTURE SPECIALIST OF FPS OF RUSSIA: PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT

Abstract. Practical recommendations on psychological support of future specialist of FPS of Russia are presented in the article. The recommendations are based on the results of empiric research. The objective of the research was to study the structure of intellectual and personal potential of future specialist of FPS of Russia at the stage of their initial training for service and learning. 275 students undergoing course of young soldier (their initial training for service and learning) participated in the research in country educational centre of the Academy FPS of Russia. Based on the results the conclusion that the structure of intellectual and personal potential of future specialist of FPS of Russia at the stage of their initial training for service and learning is heterogeneous and multifactor and differs depending on future specialty has been drawn. Level-specific differences between specialties have been defined in the context of qualitative heterogeneity of intellectual and personal potential of future specialist of FPS of Russia as well.

Abstract. The results of comprehensive study of emotional intelligence in convicted women serving their sentences in prisons are considered in the article. Intensity and special character of emotional feelings’ manifestation at different stages of imprisonment are examined. STUDY OF PROPENSITY FOR VICTIM BEHAVIOR IN ADOLESCENTS WITH DIFFERENT RELATIONS WITH PARENTS

Abstract. The attention in the article is drawn to the shift from provoking role of a victim in committing a crime to examination of person’s heightened vulnerability (victimhood). The necessity to study the problem of victimhood to ensure person’s psychological security is stressed. The authors identify three most promising areas in victimhood study: identification of personal correlates of victimhood; development of individual psychological profiles of persons inclined to different forms of victim behavior; study of correlation of victim manifestations with specific socio-psychological conditions at different age stages of development.

The results of study of interrelation between adolescents’ propensity for victim behavior and peculiarities of child-parents relations in family are presented in the article. 43 adolescents aged 14–15 participated in the study. Questionnaires “Behavior of parents and attitude of adolescents to them” (ADOR) by E. Schaefer and “Propensity for victim behavior” by O.O. Andronnikova were used. Based on the research data the authors came to the conclusion that there was a correlation between propensities for certain types of victim behavior and adolescent’s assessments of parents’ behavior. Assessment was based on the following factor variables: acceptance – emotional rejection, psychological control – psychological autonomy, hidden control – open control. More than a half of revealed correlations are connected with emotional component of assailment of adolescents’ attitude of parents’ behavior. Established correlations between propensities for certain types of victim behavior and adolescent’s assessments of parents’ behavior have specific character for boys and girls.

SEMANTIC SPACE OF PROFESSIONAL SUCCESSFULNESS OF PENAL SYSTEM EMPLOYEES

Abstract. Preservation and development of highly skilled specialists of penal system make the problem of psychological determinants of professional successfulness of penal system employees topical. There are two main approaches to understanding of professional successfulness in modern psychology: information-operational and effective. The difference between approaches is in evaluation of the place of professional successfulness in complex system person-profession-activity. The acceptance of professional successfulness as multidimensional formation, combination of endo-, ecto- and exogenous characteristics of a person as a subject of professional activity is common for these approaches. Ambiguity of professional successfulness’ qualification can be explained by variety of views: from positions of objective or subjective representation. From the point of view of subjective representation, professional successfulness can be

considered in two aspects: functional and structural. Multidimensional character of professional successfulness phenomenon suggests that it is a conjunctive including such obligatory elements of effectiveness as technological effectiveness, satisfaction with the own professional activity and with the Self as a specialist. That is why professional successfulness implies the idea that meaning space has certain attributive signs that can be studied by means of psycho semantic method.

Based on semantic space study of penal system employees who are prone to professional destruction, a-priory scope of notions for evaluation by officers with different levels of professional has been defined. Regression analysis reveals that professional successfulness more than by 40 % is due to certain configuration of semantic space in respect to such notions as service, own past, own present, own future, happiness. Meanwhile, while the service in professionally successful officers has signs of moral-ethic categories and is actualized in the past and in the present, in officers who do not show signs of professional successfulness at the time of the study it is represented by emotional-valuation category and is opposite towards temporal notions in person’s space of meanings.

SUICIDE FROM UNREQUITED LOVE AS A SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEMА. M. Smirnov

Abstract. Socio-psychological aspect of suicide from unrequited love is examined in the article. Those who experience deep psychological feelings from a lack of reciprocity in love relations constitute the “group of suicidal

risk”. This is confirmed by the history of development of human’s civilization and by present-day social realities. Besides, this problem is acknowledged by international organizations specializing in the field of suicide and measures to deal with it. That is why the goals of the given research are to form notion about “unrequited” love as a determinant of suicide behavior, to examine peculiarities of this behavior that are determined by socio-psychological feelings and problems of love relations and to develop proposals on the prevention of this negative social phenomenon.

Generalized socio-psychological portrait of persons suffering from unrequited love is presented. This is mainly a female under 25 with low level of education from the whole family. They are characterized by impressionability, maximalism, emotional instability, sentimentality, expressivity, lack of critical thinking and communicative and self-control abilities, unformed of limiting imperatives behavior and survival instinct. They are characterizes by such character accentuations as affective- ecstatic, demonstrative, rigid, excitable, labile, hysterical, sensitive and unstable. By temperament they are mainly sanguine and melancholic persons. Patterns of their suicidal behavior are expressed in premeditated falling from high buildings, hanging, poisoning, wrists slitting and falling under vehicles at day or night time, in spring or autumn, usually not in public. Hinting behavior usually precedes suicide. Main reasons for suicide from unrequited love are presented, preventive measures are proposed.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PERSONAL PECULIARITIES OF ACTIVE AND FORMER LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, WHO HAVE COMMITTED CRIMINAL – AGGRESSIVE ACTS

Abstract. Considerable number of aggressive crimes committed by internal affairs officers and the necessity for development of preventive measures condition the topicality of the study. The problem of aggressive behavior of law enforcement officers is examined through the comparison of proaggressive and inhibiting aggression personal traits of acting and former officers who have been sentenced for aggressive offences. 245 males aged 18-35 participated in the study. 96 former law enforcement officers serving sentences for criminal – aggressive offences in Ryazan colony constitute experimental group. Control group constitute 149 active officers from special task units of law enforcement agencies. Set of psychodiagnostic questionnaires for study of proaggressive and inhibiting aggression personal traits have been used: the Buss–Perry Aggression Questionnaire, questionnaire “Study of volitional self-regulation” by A. Zverkova, E.V. Edman, Toronto Alexithymia Scale, questionnaire of emotional empathy by Mekhrabian and Ehpshtajn, the Rokeach Value Survey, Life Style Index by R. Plutchik, H. Kellerman, H. R. Conte. Statistical analysis includes comparison between groups.

It has been revealed that personal traits conductive to repression of aggression in the form of volitional self-regulation are more expressed in active officers whose activity is directly connected with manifestation of aggression in the course of their duties compared to sentenced ones. Specific character of value orientations and psychological defense mechanisms as proaggressive and inhibiting aggression elements in the structure of personal traits of law enforcement agencies has been revealed. In accordance with the obtained results the direction of preventive measures aimed at decreasing of probability of development of premises and manifestations of aggressive behavior in law enforcement officers has been defined.

COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE OF CLERGY IN PREVENTION OF EXTREM-ISM AND PROSELYTISM IN CUSTODIES

Abstract. Communicative competence is one that is very important and nowadays constitutes rather complicated part of communication process between the clergy – representatives of different confessions and penal system institutions. Experience has shown that it is necessary in order to achieve effective results in re-socialization of the convicts in custodies. Description and analysis of basic elements of communicative competence of subjects of re-socialization can reduce impeding interaction deficiency in communication and would help to counteract to extremism and proselytism.
