D ear Community of St. Augustine;
This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of Christ, the King, which brings to a close the Liturgical Year of
our Church.
John’s Gospel, lets us hear Jesus telling us, “I am the way, the truth and the life” (Jn 14:6); and this weekend allows us to see Jesus facing Pilate. Two different powerful men representing two completely different kingdoms. In His dialogue with Pilate, Jesus makes it clear that His Kingdom is not of this world. Indeed, my brothers and sisters, our God’s Kingdom is totally different to those of this earth.
St. John invites us to reflect and to see Jesus as a King who is a witness to the truth; a King of love, a King of suffering and of glory; a King of life, of justice of peace, of freedom, of human dignity and universal fraternity; a crucified and resurrected King, present and acting in the history of mankind as well as in the life of every human being. Our King!
In a world that more often promotes lies and deceit, as the easy road to attain success; more often manifests itself against life and the dignity of the human being from conception to natural death, we, Christians are called to listen to the Lord’s voice and to worship Him as our King.
In your lives, do you choose the truth? Do we always choose to tell the truth? Are we witnesses to the truth?
Next weekend we will start a new Liturgical Year with Advent. We will begin to prepare ourselves spiritually to celebrate again that Jesus was born and came into this world to be a witness to the truth. We will celebrate Christmas!
Vivat Christ the King!

Q uerida comunidad de San Agustín,
Este fin de semana estamos celebrando la solemnidad de Cristo Rey que cierra el Año Litúrgico de nuestra Iglesia.
En el Evangelio según San Juan, Jesús nos dice: “Yo soy el camino, la verdad y la vida” (Jn 14: 6). El Evangelio de hoy nos presenta a Jesús ante Pilato. Dos poderes distintos, dos formas de reinado totalmente diferentes. En su diálogo con Pilato Jesús aclara que su reino no es de este mundo. Hermanos, efectivamente, el reinado de nuestro Dios es totalmente diferente a los de esta Tierra.
San Juan nos invita a reflexionar y a ver a Jesús como el Rey, que es testigo de la verdad, que es Rey de amor, de sufrimiento y de gloria. Rey de la vida, de la justicia y la paz, del amor y la libertad, de la dignidad humana y la fraternidad universal. Rey crucificado y resucitado, presente y actuante en la historia de la humanidad y de cada persona humana. ¡Este es nuestro Rey!
En un mundo que muchas veces promueve la mentira y el engaño. En un mundo que promueve el camino fácil para alcanzar el éxito. En un mundo que muchas veces no defiende la vida y la dignidad del ser humano desde su concepción hasta la muerte natural, nosotros, los cristianos, estamos llamados a escuchar la voz del Señor y adorarle como nuestro Rey.
En su vida, ¿optan por seguir a la Verdad? ¿Optamos siempre por decir la verdad? ¿Somos testigos de la verdad?
El próximo fin de semana comenzaremos un nuevo Año Litúrgico con el Tiempo de Adviento. Comenzaremos a prepararnos espiritualmente para celebrar nuevamente que Jesús nació y vino a este mundo para ser testigo de la verdad. ¡Celebraremos la Navidad!
¡Viva Cristo Rey!

In Our Parish (En Nuestra Parroquia) PANS DROP-OFF This weekend we will be collecting the pans with home made desserts or store bought desserts. Please bring them to the Parish Life Center, Saturday, November 24th between 4:30pm—7:30pm or Sunday 25th by 2:30pm. Thank you for your kindness and generosity!
FOOD DRIVE This weekend we will be handing out the bags for non-perishables groceries. You can donate as few or as many food items as you want. The food items will be given to the Sharing Center (Seminole County). Please bring your food bags back to the church the weekend of December 1st—2nd. Together we will help those in need. Thank you for your support.
ADVENT WREATH Advent wreaths and candles are now available at the gift shop. Stop by and get yours!
ADVENT GIVING TREE As we prepare for the coming of the Christ Child, we reach out to those in need with the St. Augustine Parish tradition of the Advent Giving Tree. This year we are sharing our blessings with the following agencies: Boys Town, Christian Sharing Center, Eastbrooke Gardens, Hope CommUnity Center, Life Choices, Pathways to Care, and St. Francis & Damien House. Our Advent Giving Tree will be in the Narthex from November 24th through December 16th. We ask the parishioners to: Choose an ornament from the tree Each ornament is labeled with a gift item Purchase your gift and attach the ornament to gift Bring your unwrapped gift to the church by Dec 9th for the
Hope CommUnity Center and all the rest by Dec. 16th. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
BANDEJAS Este fin de semana estaremos recogiendo las bandejas con postres hechos en casa. Por favor traerlas al Centro de Vida Parroquial el sábado, 24 de noviembre entre las 4:30pm—7:30pm o el domingo 25 antes de las 2:30pm. ¡Gracias a todos por su generosidad!
COLECTA DE ALIMENTOS Este fin de semana entregaremos las bolsas para comestibles no perecederos. Puede donar la cantidad de alimentos que desee.
