Scholarship - March 10, 2017

The Mexican American Bar Foundation proudly announces the opening of

the application season for its annual California bar stipend and scholarship awards programs.

Established in 1991 by volunteer lawyers and judges, the Foundation has pursued its mission of promoting diversity in the

legal profession through education by awarding bar stipends and scholarships to Latino law students in Southern California. In giving awards, the Foundation will consider the applicant’s

(1) financial need, (2) academic achievement,

(3) community service, (4) leadership experience and

(5) any hardship experienced in pursuing an education.

Scholarships can range up to $15,000.

Don’t disqualify yourself before you give yourself a chance to be considered.

We are looking for those diamonds in the

rough!

Loyola Law School’s Immigrant Justice Clinic

This upcoming semester, Loyola Law School’s Immigrant Justice Clinic is excited to introduce their first alternative

spring break program to El Paso, Texas. During this trip, five law students will have the opportunity to defend

undocumented detainees in one of America’s toughest immigration courts. In hopes of covering costs, the

participating students have written grant proposals and created a go fund-me to raise funds for their trip, but are still

$5,000 short of their goal.

In addition to in court representation, attending students will visit the border with Border Patrol and meet with

Mexican Officials in Juarez to discuss the affects of the upcoming year on the U.S.-Mexican border. Given the

incoming administration’s extensive proposed changes to immigration policies, the students have organized the trip

to help educate themselves and prepare to be effective advocates upon their graduation in 2017.

Loyola Law School has graciously offered to give receipts for any donations so that the donors may receive 501(c)(3)

deductions for the upcoming tax filing. If you are interested in making an online donation, please do so at
