Team Vergate (1) The Exile

Spoiler alert! Don't read this part until you have finished reading Team Vergate (1)The Exile! You read with your own risk of spoiling. If you don't have the book and

1. In the prologue, do you think Dr. Carl Von Fiddlesticks was right to tell the kids they were perfect before sending them to live on other planets? Why or why not?

2. In chapter 2, Megan Berry sings the song Amazing Grace. But later she thinks it was nonsense, because she was a Perfect. However, when writing a letter to her sister she says that it gave her peace even though she didn't really understand the song. Do you think the song helped soften her heart later on? Do you have something you don't quite understand but gives you peace?

3. Throughout the beginning of the book, Megan mentions her sister Beth quite a bit.Why do you think her sister loved to sing Amazing Grace? Why do you think she never liked Megan's choice of work? Do you think if Megan changed, Beth would spend more time with her?

4. In chapter 4, after Megan was captured, she was afraid she was going to be killed even though she was Perfect. If she thought she was Perfect, then why would she be afraid of doing something worthy of death?

5. In a flashback in chapter 6, Megan's grandfather thought that people tend to lean on their own understanding with power so close to their finger tips, instead of trusting in God. What do you think?

Team Vergate (1) The Exile Discussion Questions

6. Later in chapter 6, another prisoner, David, tried to tell Megan that they were in prison because they were both Imperfect. Only God could save them. Do you think whatDavid said is true? If so, would this government, based on perfection, be able to arrest anyone one they want?

7. In chapter 7, Eddie believed if one was a Perfect, but later was found to be an Imperfect, he or she was never a Perfect to begin with. Do you think this is true? If not, then are the Perfect's just pretending to be perfect?

8. Why do you think David's 'old book' was very important to him? Why do you think he wanted his brother to have it?

9. At the end of chapter 12, even David's last words were for God. How can we spend our last minutes serving God?

10. Why do you think Skipp was so loyal to the Perfect Children, even when they didn't return the favor?

11. In chapter 16, why did you think Megan wrote "I'm sorry." to the guard who had slapped her, even though she stabbed him with a fork? Would you be able to apologize to someone and mean it after a fight, even if the person you fought deserved it? Why or why not?

12. Also in chapter 16, Megan prays Psalm 119:105, asking God for "His Word to be a lamp unto her feet" when there was nothing but darkness around her. Do you think God answered her prayer? Do you think God's Word can be a lamp onto your feet?

13. At the end of chapter 17, Megan prays for someone or something to save her. In chapter 18, she runs into two men. Do you think God answered her prayer? Do you think sometimes God answers your prayers in mysterious ways?

14. Alvan had built the Exsilium and Xenon had owned it for a time. Do you think this made it justifiable for Megan, Alvan, and Xenon to steal the ship? Why or why not? Were they also right to kidnap Skipp even if it was to save his life as much as it was for their own gain?

15. In chapter 28, Megan quotes Matthew 5:10, "'Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'" Do you think David was blessed by giving up his life for God? Why or why not?

About Grace M. Morris

Grace with her very special cat Junior

Grace M. Morris got interested in writing at a very young age when she began to read a mystery series. Wanting and praying that God will help her glorify and honor Him in all of her works, she writes her characters with problems of which the answers only lay in the Bible. Though with Team Vergate being her first book in print, she has also written two Christmas Plays for her church at age 15 and 16, but now at the same time as writing books she helps her Mom (Karen Morris) with their website.

Grace also loves to work with computer graphics and draw on paper. She is homeschooled and lives with her parents, her two brothers and the family's animals in Washington.
