Proud to support Ludlow Spring Festival

As a boutique estate agency, we offer a truly bespoke service to both seller and buyer, landlord and tenant

  • Spring Festival is a celebration of the diverse talents that thrive across the Welsh Marches. Over the course of the weekend, we bring together an impressive line-up of brewers, distillers, makers and food producers, as well as a packed programme of live music and an extensive display of vintage and classic vehicles.

Over the past 11 years, the Festival has become a much-loved fixture in the local calendar. It’s an opportunity to get together with friends and family in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere and soak up all the great things that the Marches has to offer.

On Friday, we’re delighted to host the Wales and West heats of the SIBA Independent Beer Awards.

Judging takes place behind closed doors before the Festival opens to the public at 5pm. Be amongst the first to sample the prize-winning beers and much more besides.

Saturday and Sunday offer something for everyone – from Talks & Tipples sessions, to Gin & Jazz in the castle’s Norman Chapel. There are wine valuations from our sponsors Brightwells, and fun activities for children, or take a look around the Marches Transport Festival and pick out your dream car.

There’s never a dull moment – we’re sure to put a spring in your step!

SUP AND CELEBRATEThe Spring Festival brings together a stellar line-up of 200 real ales, craft beers and ciders, wines and spirits. Whatever your favourite tipple – we have something to satisfy the most discerning palate.

At the heart of the event is the Festival Pub which houses a prolific line up of cask ales,

cocktails and soft drinks, as well as our live music stage. Music and merriment are the order of the day.

Purchase your beer tokens and then start planning your visit – glass in hand of course!

A PETROLHEAD’S DELIGHTEvery year, we host the Marches Transport Festival inside the

castle. Enthusiasts can admire an impressive display of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and commercial vehicles. Owners of a huge selection of lovingly restored and pristinely maintained motors proudly take their place in the Outer Bailey. With vehicles from across the decades, it’s a wonderful snapshot of our engineering and design heritage.

YOUR GUIDE TO A WEEKEND OF FUN ON TAP!Ludlow Spring Festival is dedicated to those who enjoy life’s simple pleasures. It’s a sociable shindig with plenty to keep you entertained inside the castle and around the town. Here’s a quick look at what you can look forward to...

TALKS AND TIPPLESThere’s an opportunity to learn something new at our Talks & Tipples sessions. Hosted by some of the area’s most fascinating food and drink experts, you can gain insight into a variety of flavoursome topics. Whether you want to become a better beer taster, find out about investing in wine, hear about amazing cheeses or how to forage in the Shropshire countryside – be sure to take a seat at these FREE events throughout the weekend.

GIN AND JAZZSpring Festival will be the first public event to be held with the new roof on the tower of the Castle’s Norman Chapel. TREASURED BOTTLESLocal auctioneers and valuers, Brightwells Auctioneers, will be bringing experts from their wine department to the Festival. Visitors to their stand can discuss all aspects of the wine trade and are invited to take part in the Brightwells Wine Tasting Challenge. The winner will receive 6 bottles of fine wine, a selection of local food and four tickets to the September Food Festival. There will also be jewellery and fine art valuation experts on hand over the course of the weekend – just visit the Brightwells stand in the Outer Bailey for more information.

LITTLE PEOPLE WELCOMEWe aim to cater for everyone’s tastes by making the Festival a fantastic day out for all the family. This year, we have a range of hands-on activities to keep the little ones busy – and they’re all completely FREE! There are games for all ages with Asmodee UK. We also welcome back Grow Cook Learn, who help children to discover and learn about the food, landscape and history of

the Shropshire Hills. Or bring your children to one of the free cookery classes hosted by Outside The Box – it’s a chance to get involved and have fun! Just turn up and get cooking.

THE REGION’S BEST BITESWith so much going on, you’re bound to work up an appetite. Fear not! You will be pleased to hear that we have selected some of the region’s most tempting, freshly prepared hot and cold food-to-go. Tuck into a tasty gourmet burger or explore global flavours from one of the Street Food vendors.

We’re immensely proud of the Marches’ outstanding food and drink producers. The Festival showcases some of the very best, with a handpicked selection of 60 exhibitors. Whether you’re looking for sweet treats, artisan cheeses, hand roasted coffee or piquant pickles – we have it all. Stock up and take home a delicious memento of your visit.

LOVELY LUDLOWDon’t miss the opportunity to explore a little further afield. Make the most of our thriving market town with a leisurely stroll through Ludlow’s charming streets. Home to a wealth of independent retailers and the Produce Market in Castle Square on Sunday, it’s a great place to indulge in some retail therapy. Be sure to pick up an ‘Only in Ludlow’ Loyalty Card for a chance to win a sensational gift hamper. See page 21 for more details.

The Pie and Pudding Trails are back by popular demand! If you’re a fan of pastry-cased creations or delectable desserts, then be sure to bag yourself a ticket.

Remember – it’s Pies on Saturday and Puds on Sunday. New for 2019 – we’re introducing a Gin Trail. The trend for craft gin just keeps on growing! To celebrate, we’ve teamed up with four local producers (Ludlow Gin, Kirkwood Distillery, Shire Gin and Sly Gin) so you can walk around the town, enjoying a craft gin along the way!

All trail tickets can be purchased by visiting the Festival Information Point outside the castle during the weekend – but be quick, there’s only a limited number available!
