THE DESIGN PROGRAM

PROGRAMMING

Programming begins with the first visit to your home, where I gather information and develop a plan for your

project.

Photographs and measurements are taken. We

will talk a bit and create a wish list and approximate budget for your project.

Then, we will talk about your availability and ideal project

time line.

This information is used to create a design program,

which includes a time estimate, and a summary of

the project goals

CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

IDEA GENERATION

We may have already shared a Pinterest board, a Houzz board, or images from

magazines/books. These images combined with the

home’s architecture and your personality will guide me in

developing ideas, concepts for your space.

We’ll look at potential layouts for your space and share ideas to further develop these ideas. This is the time to dream, and pretend that limitations (like that yucky budget thing) do

not exist!

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

MAKING IT A REALITY

Once we’ve established the design style and are sure that we are on the same

page, we begin looking at actual products, finishes,

and fixtures.

We begin fitting the dream into the needs of reality and making the design suit you

and your needs.

Floor plans, elevations, and 3D drawings are provided to

confirm that we have properly developed your

design.

CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS

DETAILS, DETAILS

With everything confirmed, it is time to make sure the

contractor understands the vision. Construction

documents may not always be the most legible without

a trained eye- but they convey those little details

that we’ve discussed in the design process.

Product specifications further enhance this detail

by noting the materials, finishes, and fixtures

selected and their placement.

INSTALLATION

COMMUNICATION

Project observation is more about communication than it

is “babysitting” the contractor. They know how to build

things- I know how these things should look completed.

Sometimes more than a picture is needed. It is so

important to have consistency from the beginning to the end of the project and that is our job- to be your consistency!

We communicate the details that you have shared with us and the reasons for design

decisions that help the contractor understand why certain details are absolute musts where others may be

more flexible.

PROJECT COMPLETION

HONEY-DO LIST

It’s finished!! Almost. Many projects reach a completion

state that is ready for a“punch list”. This is the point where we come in,

note any items remaining for the contractor, and celebrate

the finished product!

You’re not rid of us yet though- we’ll likely be back

for professional photographs!
