Provide detailed descriptions from chosen examples that establish…
Clearly state what production technique(s) you think have been used to create specific soundtrack elements
Setting As the characters are outside on a stormy night, the feint sounds of lightning can be heard. Also, the car alarm echoes throughout the streets once it has been set off.
The lightning sound could have been taken from a sound library or possibly recorded by taking audio outside on a stormy night. The car alarm could have easily been recorded from an actual car or since it sounds like a stock alarm, it was probably taken from a sound library also.
Mood The mood is reflected in many parts of the cut scene through sound. For example, when the tank appears for the first time, the bass drum gets louder to signify the scary/tense feeling of “oh god what is that?” Another example is how the music intensifies at 3:32 – 3:50 to give a feeling of uncertainty to whether the girl was going to make it.
The bass drum sound was no doubt recorded in a recording studio as it is easy to just record an instrument and get the effect you want manually. The music intensifying was also probably recorded in a sound studio as part of a whole orchestra.
Game genre The game genre is survival/action and its really shown in the sound design for example how the tempo of the music really increases when the zombies attack, signifying the action has begun.
The music is an original score so it was probably recorded form scratch in a sound studio with real life instruments.

Narrative The narrative between the characters was recorded by their four voice actors; Earl Alexander, Jim French, Jen Taylor and Vince Valensuela.
Their voices were probably recorded in a sound booth.
