A look at Church Stained Glass from the period 1830 to 1920, mainly using examples in and around the Surrey area. Special consideration is given to the glass of Clayton & Bell. By the 1920’s many of the stained glass companies that had been a major force in
the previous 100 years had ceased to exist, although James Powell & Sons were still
producing windows along with a few other firms mainly involved in restoration.
Goddard & Gibbs produced windows in the latter part of 20th century but they no longer are trading. Individual craft studios continue
to produce a few windows to commission.
