capabilities brochure
timothybellphotography was foundedin 1995 specializing in architecture, interiorsand urban landscape. From inception to completion of each project, Tim focuses on how to best express a space’s design intent, its use and how it is experienced by inhabitants and visitors. The business’s agenda is to anticipateclient needs, understand their firm’s workand deliver expressive representations oftheir built projects.Tim has a BA in architecture and soon,an MArch (2012) both from Columbia University. His architectural training and 15+ yearsof experience photographing space have given Tim an astute appreciation of designer motivation and conflicts.
For Tim, shoots are only a part of the creation of the final images; just as important are pre- and post-production capabilities. Scouting, gleaning design intent, staging, site preparation, The Shoot, post-production in Photoshop (compositing, integration of elements…). All coalesce to compose the final image. During each phase Tim visualizes the spaces not as they are seen at the site or on the tethered laptop but as final delivered images.

Natural, clean light is basic to our photography. Clearly de-fined light sources (key light) is supplemented by flash fill for color balance and depth.
Personal effects contextualize images. People live the lives framed (or captured) in these spaces.
By gravitating to the layered shot, depth and visual interest are added to the shot.
And sometimes just the presence of sunlight creates warmth.
Digital tools allow the creation of imag-ery that comes closer to replicating ac-tual conditions (ironically). By expand-ing the limits of image capture, lens restrictions and the picture plane, each image has a clearer sense of space.
Connecting rooms though shared elements, procession is achieved
providing viewers a sense of spacial relationships.
