PITCH FEEDBACK ANALYSIS

Even though we sent this out to a lot of different people, the audience fell under exactly the same age group. The 15-18 year olds are the sort of age group we are aiming at as

they are usually students/high up in their secondary education, and strive to enjoy nights out with their friends

and going to gigs to support their friends band or other unheard of bands.

AGE

The males to female ratio here represents the mixed target audience we were hoping for, both males and females can

enjoy the Indie Rock culture as it is made to appeal to both genders.

GENDER

We sent this survey to a variety of different people, some of these people didn’t even listen to Indie Rock and would

rather listen to Heavy Metal or Rock.

OUT OF THE OPTIONS LISTED BELOW, WHAT IS YOUR PREFERRED GENRE

OF MUSIC?

PICK AN ARTIST FROM THE LIST BELOW; WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE

MUSIC VIDEO OF THEIRS AND WHY?

On the previous slide, we asked them to pick from Oasis, Arctic Monkeys and The 1975; Arctic Monkeys were the

most popular band amongst them. When asking the audience to pick their favourite music video, a lot of them said “I like the simplicity” “I like the mood of the song” “I

like the uniqueness”. For us it is important that we use this in our song, whilst still making sure we are engaging with

the audience.

FROM ANY GENRE OF MUSIC, WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE MUSIC VIDEO AND

WHY?

Page 8: Pitch feedback analysis

From the previous slide, a lot of people said that they like videos that: “Show a journey” “Tell a story” “ Link with the

lyrics” and are “Comical”. This helps us establish what aspects of a music video our target audience like (unrelated to Indie Rock) and this information will help us decide how

we can mould our video to the needs of our target audience.

WHAT WOULD YOU EXPECT TO SEE IN A MUSIC VIDEO?

Page 10: Pitch feedback analysis

A lot of people required that we make sure to link the lyrics to the visuals, they wanted us to clearly establish who the artists are. They also expect a narrative within the music video alongside a performance, they have picked out the codes and conventions of a typical music video and the things they have highlighted specifically will allow us to

mould our video to our audiences expectations.

Page 12: Pitch feedback analysis

In the answers to this question, a lot of the audience were able to pick out the main themes of the video such as

Friendship, youth, the transition from youth to adulthood and also the journey through life to find where you belong

within society.

A lot of people said that they would go and watch this video, this motivates us to create the best video to appeal

to our target audience.

WOULD YOU GO BACK AND WATCH THIS VIDEO?

DOES IT SOUND LIKE A GOOD VIDEO?

WHAT ARE YOUR CURRENT THOUGHTS ON THE PLOT

DESCRIBED TO YOU IN OUR PITCH VIDEO?

A lot of people said that it suits the age deomographic, and that it’d be interesting to see what happens with the video.

Page 16: Pitch feedback analysis

Some people said they wouldn’t change anything, however other people asked us to focus on the detail, and perhaps stick to the one group (Indie OR Hipster) to make it easier

for us to portray a band and the genre well.

IS THERE ANYTHING YOU WOULD CHANGE?

Page 17: Pitch feedback analysis

DOES THIS VIDEO APPEAL TO THE INDIE GENRE?

Page 18: Pitch feedback analysis

Our feedback expresses the typical things that our audience expect to see within our video and aspects they’d like us to

focus on. Its also useful that they have also mentioned aspects of their favourite videos that we could perhaps

incorporate into our own video, for example a comical side to the video could help express the band a lot more (if they were messing around during a performance it would show

that they are having fun and are good friends).

IN CONCLUSION...
